So many comedy greats. Only one way to decide who is the best... With a poll! I expect there to be a lot of potential candidates, so to make sure I don't miss any, I'd like for you to suggest your favorites below. Maybe keep it to one or two at a time so everyone gets a chance to participate? Just an idea. After we have our comedians picked, I'll add the poll to this thread. So far we have: - Bill Murray
- Eddie Murphy
- John Candy
- Steve Martin
- Billy Connolly
- George Carlin
- Richard Pryor
- Martin Short
- Leslie Nielsen

Eddie Murphy, George Carlin and Steve Martin were all hilarious in the 80s but there's only one king

Add Billy Crystal. He was in the 90s as well, but a great comedian nevertheless.

Richard Pryor should count, right? He was huge in the late 70s and into the 80s.

John Belushi count, or is that 70s? I dunno. That's more like late seventies, isn't he? Died in early eighties. RIP

Now that you guys mentioned Richard Pryor and Leslie Nielsen I'm torn. I won't give this one to Bill Murray because I think he is a better actor than a comedian, if that makes any sense (that is, other people are funnier than him, but his acting range is deeper).

Who could forget Sam Kinison? Also Jerry Seinfeld was up and coming in the 80s. Rodney Dangerfield.
But I still stand by Eddie. By the way, is this comedic actors or are we narrowing this to stand ups?

By the way, is this comedic actors or are we narrowing this to stand ups? I was under the impression that we were voting on comedic actors, but when the stand ups started being nominated I figured, why not. Anyone disagree? Should we narrow it to those who were on film in the 80s only? Might make for a more evenly matched poll...
