I think I have seen some parts of this movie on TV once when I was a kid. I don't think I saw the whole thing. I'll have to watch this this week since it's on Netflix and all.

Other than the abomination that is Vegas Vacation, all of them are classics. Chevy Chase rules.

I'll give it a 4 just because, as scipioafricanus, I prefer Christmas a bit more.

I agree with cobretti, Chevy Chase was hilarious.

I'm sorry but this wasn't good:
"This is one of the most outdated movies I have ever seen. It is truly unfunny, truly damn it! I tried so hard to like it, as it is regarded as one of the classics of comedy. However hard I tried, I could not keep myself from cringing my ass off. Some of it might be blamed on that it is strictly a nostalgia piec, that it cannot be enjoyed by later generations as with the ones that grew up, or that it solely bases its humor of American culture, but still, there would be at least one joke funny enough for a chuckle. Mark my words, this will fall into obscurity within the next generation." 1/5

I think I understand where Balder is coming from. Comedy doesn't always translate over time. I thought Black Sheep and Tommy Boy were some of the finest pieces of comedy in history when it first came out. A few years ago, my wife and I popped the movies in, and we couldn't stand them. It was depressing to see something you once revered flipped on its head. Comedy changes as time goes on, and so do comedic tastes. I don't think I like this one as much as I used to either. (I still love Christmas Vacation, but to be honest, I haven't seen it in a while.) Chevy Chase reminds me of Chris Farley in that the SNL stars were a product of their time. Check out Chevy Chase's recent work. It sucks, and the box office agrees.

dschult3 has a good point, not always, but some comedy loses its touch over time.

Have you seen the Christmas one? Nope, but that one is the more famous isn't it? I would say more people have seen it/watch it since it is on every year.
