It's been confirmed that Disney has bought everything from 21st Century Fox except for the news departments for a whopping 66 billion USD. That's right, 66 fucking billion American dollars. I've never been too concerned about Disney buying franchises, but this is just too much man. They have a monopoly on all the big franchises now. And after watching The Last Jedi yesterday, I'm afraid they'll Disneyfy everything. Thanks to competition we have movies such as Deadpool and Logan, stuff that would never ever see the day if Disney owned them. It's a sad day for entertainment.

So the X-Men will be with Marvel again, right?

I'm probably in the minority, but I do like what Disney does with their IPs. I had loved all their Star Wars movies so far. So no complains there. I like to have my annualized Star Wars movie instead of once every 20 years.
The thing is that I usually enjoy an Avengers movie more than an X-Men movie nowadays and that is simply not right. Logan and Deadpool were the rare cases, but in general I do like Disney rescuing X-Men and The Fantastic Four.
I do want a Gambit movie now, my favorite X-Men character, hopefully it occurs to them to make one now that they finally unified Marvel.

The US of A has four major networks and two of them are owned by Disney. That’s kind of disturbing.

I like the way Disney handles their IPs, but it is worrisome that a single company can have so much control over such a vast range of products.
This also explains why they are ditching Netflix to create their own service: with all the added Fox catalog, they now have strenght to go against Netflix.

Capcom had to pull Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins and their excellent HD remaster of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 from the online stores because of them. Konami had to pull their remastered X-Men Arcade as well. They also fucked up Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite by not allowing Capcom to have Deadpool and the X-Men. Maybe now Capcom will be able to get them for Ultimate and finally fix the game. As far as I'm concerned Disney paying that amount of cash is saving the Marvel Vs. Capcom franchise from its currently shitty condition, 100% worth it.

It's disturbing how much power Disney has in this world now. They've never done a thing for the world of animation and honestly I just see them as a greedy corporation.

I'm reading it was agreed for more like 52 bills. Where are you seeing $66 billion, Balder ? Overall this sounds like good news to me. The X-Men and Spider-Man are the only Marvel characters that I care about. At least one of those is now in more capable hands. More importantly for me, Fox had the distribution rights to the original Star Wars movie, so now we might finally get an unaltered box set of all of the first 6 movies in HD. That would be awesome. What I think we're going to see come from this is a Disney-owned streaming service to compete with Netflix. Disney and Fox had already been in talks to cofound such a beast and now Disney has enough movies and TV shows under its belt to make that kind of service worthwhile for the consumer. So while it might mean less competition from the studio side, more competition in the streaming service side is definitely a good thing.

About that whole competing with Netflix thing. It's a front. I know a bunch of business people and that is what is done no matter of what scale we are talking about.
A close friend of mine owns both competing electronic cigarette companies in Central America. People thinks that they are competing with eacher but in reality they are just making good business, similar to what Xbox and PlayStation kinda did for a while.
The purpose is to save face. For example EA needs Activision and Microsoft needs Apple. People aren't very happy when they perceive a monopoly, so you have to give them a sense that they have options, even when you are interwined with the competition to provide that false sense.
By the way, if Disney bought Fox that means they own Hulu now. So they can either enhance Hulu to the worldwide market or they can start with a new competidor entirely, they can also do both.

By the way, I can't wrap my head around the fact that Alien now is owned by Disney. Can you imagine it? That's just awesome. All the disturbing sexual horror from Alien is now a Disney IP.
Maybe we may now get a good movie out of it?
I vote for an animated Alien movie made by Pixar, just for shits and giggles. Or maybe a crossover between Alien and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I've just realized that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is now a Disney series. That's too awesome to be true.
"What if Jesus was aborted?" is now my favourite Disney quote!
