So, I guess Mark gave up on Youtube altogether:
Damn shame really and I don't see this garnering much of a following but hey, if it makes him happy, I can't complain. I don't much know how it works either like if I can watch for free just by having Amazon Prime. Hate to say it but I won't be following Mark onto Amazon Prime. I don't see why all videos on a channel should be paywalled. You'd have to be solely dedicated to Mark above all other Youtube channels and while 2013 me might have followed that ship blindly, 2018 me knows better.

He will keep posting the new videos on Youtube, though they will only be accessible to Patreon backers. As I understand, it's free for Amazon Prime subscribers. I also think he will keep releasing these new episodes in "supreme collections".
I'd prefer if it stayed for free on Youtube, but it seems Mark is having a much better time with Amazon, so I understand the move (it also seems Youtube has been taking down some of his videos lately, that must be infuriating). I hope everything works out ok, as the new format looks legitimately exciting.

If you have Prime, you get to see the content.

My initial reaction was kinda bummed out like Teddy, but I think this could be a positive thing.
I don't have Amazon Prime, but if (or when) I do, I will definitely watch along. Amazon seems like a good fit with his new books and these days you can watch through an app on just about everything. In that way it beats the switch to Daily Motion from years back, and we all followed along then, too.
It'll be interesting to see how the show evolves over on Prime and what he has planned for the YouTube channel. CGR Mark IV? V? What are we even on now?

Amazon Prime has been hyped up so hard but I've seen little motive to make the shift from making purchases ebayisbly. Amazon is very targeted for sales of new products, preorders and college books none of which I'm much interested in. I'm actually not bummed out because I've been off the CGR kick for a while now. The Breath of the Wild review nearly brought me back but the bulk of his videos haven't left me craving endless CGR playlists like I used to. I can't pin it exactly but I feel like the one man show routine is getting a bit stale for me.

He has been posting some videos on Patreon to talk about the new show, he is putting a lot of effort on it. It's good to see Mark excited again about CGR, as the last few months seemed not so good. As Balder mentioned elsewhere, there were a lot of posts were it was clear his frustration with constant changes on Youtube and even Patreon - Patreon changed the way payments work in a way that creators started getting a smaller percentage; this combined with the number of patrons diminishing over the last year must have made it hard to keep the show the same way it was. Anyway, I think the new format (longer videos with multiple segments) seems more appropriate for a subscription service. I'll watch it through Patreon, as I don't have Prime. Just out of curiosity: not every show on the US Netflix is accessible in the brazilian Netflix; is it the same with Prime? Anyone with an international Prime subscription can confirm if the videos already uploaded by Mark are viewable by international subscribers?

I have Prime, but I don't use it to watch anything. I will check it out when he starts posting there regularly. I just checked it out, and there are only 2 "seasons" available, and they aren't all that recent.

Patreon changed the way payments work in a way that creators started getting a smaller percentage That's not actually true. Patreon tried to increase what the creators were earning by passing some of the processing fees to the patrons. Processing fees had previously been taken out of pledge amounts. According to Patreon, that could cost creators as much as 15% of their pledge income, and varied from month to month. The restructuring, which is scheduled to go live on December 18th, will instead require those making monthly pledges to pay an additional 2.9% of their pledge, plus a flat fee of $0.35. Patreon says the change should make creators’ incomes more predictable. Creators complained that this might price out their $1 patrons (since a $1 pledge would essentially no longer exist) and Patreon axed the idea before it was ever implemented. blog.patreon.com/updating-patreons-fee-structure/

Dan E. Kool - Ah, I didn't know they had axed the idea! Good, then. I remember a lot of concerned comments there worried about it when they announced the change.

I got Amazon Prime for free for an entire year a month ago, and since I got it, I haven't use it once, I only take advantage of the 2 day free shipping, I will start using it to check Mark stuff maybe I'll find something good there. I don't even use my Hulu, only like once in a while when I remember. Netflix I use it mote often because they have some really long shows I had been watching there for a while.
I hope Mark's videos stay in YouTube for the legacy. Plus YouTube is always changing and it is good to have those already there with so many views as a commodity and as an asset for the future.

I like Mark's passion. I'm following him over to Amazon Prime just because of this interview.

I've just watched the first episode.
Holy crap, you guys, it's awesome.
To elaborate, if anyone has seen the MUSHA Feature Review, that's pretty much what the episode looks like, including the new set. Mark condensed a lot of stuff in it and it works: there is a game review, a Q&A segment, a hardware review, some behind the scenes stuff and the interactions between the multiple Mark clones and Edit Station 1. Also, there are some really great shots of the games and consoles, the photography and editing in the episode is just unbelievable. Not to mention the jokes (the one about all the details on the corpse just killed me).
I know my fanboy side would probably like this anyway, but I wasn't expecting this level of production - as I said, it's on the level of the Feature Review, and to me it's just impressive that Mark can output a video like this once a week. I really hope this new show finds a good audience, because if the next episodes are anywhere near the level of this one, it truly deserves it.
Edit: It's supposed to have a new episode every friday.
