By "easier" I meant less challenging and time consuming, since in this country of ours you don't even have to take any kind of test to get a gun, unlike getting a driver's license, which requires you to study the rules of the road and take a road test. With buying a gun the only thing stores do is check is your criminal history, that's it. You don't have to take a test or know anything about gun safety, which (from what I understand) is the bare minimum of what most western european countries require for purchasing low-end rifles. Driving on public roads is a privilege, arms are a right. You don't need to take a test to vote, just meet the requirements of citizenship. What happens in Europe is irrelevant, hero. This is America. This thread is about the controversy of gun violence and bad gun culture, so the comparison I made to Europe's gun laws is completely relevant to this discussion. The more you post, the more I am becoming convinced that you don't have the mental maturity to handle owning a firearm. If anything this post should be a ringing endorsement for universal background checks. Listen Skippy, you are the one talking about ballet at a townhall. Last time I checked, no one needs a background check to get down with one's bad self. I, for one, would not enjoy such an America. Footloose is a MOVIE and will never be a reality thanks to the Bill of Rights which included the Second Amendment.

It should come to no surprise for anyone here that I'm not a huge fan of looser gun control laws. I find it ridiculous that people think more guns is the solution to this problem. However, I do see that some countries do quite well regardless of how many guns they have like Switzerland. So where does the problem lie? Is the US' gun culture so bad that this is inevitable? Maybe something should be done about the way the US handles guns. Maybe have some laws that teaches common sense for guns. Norway has plenty of guns per citizen, but I never see guns because people aren't allowed to carry them around in the streets, and there are pretty stricts laws thag prevent people from tossing guns around the house. Everyone who buys here has to take a theory test. |
