I just remembered another major reason why I support public transportation over driving: littering. Hundreds of thousands of americans get away with throwing trash out their car window everyday in the US, and there isn't a single road that doesn't have at least one piece of trash discarded alongside it. You could never get away with chucking shit out of a train or bus window. I volunteer with my township in cleaning up roadside trash. It's tedious, a waste of time and I shouldn't have to do it. Nobody should. In Melbourne, people litter on trains all the time. Like why wouldn't they? Littering in trains/buses is different than chucking garbage out the window. Passengers on buses/trains could never get away with doing that without being seen by other passengers who could subsequently report them to police, and they would have nowhere to run because they would be stuck on the train/bus! It's a brilliant strategy and I would take great pleasure in squealing on the despicable people that would attempt to do so. Also, the freedom of cars allows people to do shady shit like drive to a rural bridge in the middle of the night and dump large electronics like TVs into the creek/river underneath, whereas buses/trains would eliminate that possibility. |

Well you're right about large items but no one is ever going to report someone for littering on pt. Police wouldn't do shit anyway. And why would people be bothered driving to rural bridges in the middle of the night, don't you guys have government operated recycling/processing places that take them for free? |

If you want to recycle electronics here you have to pay for it yourself to be recycled, which is why many people decide to simply discard them in remote/rural locations, since recycling a single large-screen CRT or LCD TV can easily cost upwards of $100 (I think the rate for electronics at my local recycling plant is something like $7 per pound). Remember, America (as in, the US) has easily the worst government funding of any first world country, so we aren't offered the same level of government support that you are. |

I recently learned that gas stations have high levels of benzene, a very dangerous chemical found in gasoline and gas vapors that can cause many types of cancers. It makes me wonder it that's what caused my dad's lung cancer, since he worked at a gas station for many years as a teen and was constantly operating a tractor in his free time as a hobbiest farmer.

Whenever people honk at me because they are in a freaking hurry or the fact that I am going the speed limit yet they are still passing me. Whenever people honk at me I just tell them to blow it out there ass i'll go when I feel its safe. I'm a very overcautious driver.
