So you finally bought a Windows 10 machine, huh? Any reason why? A friend of mine was selling it cheap, 500kr (roughly 50US$), and I've been toying with the idea to have a laptop again, like I had back in the mid 00s when I was in [the Swedish equivalent of] High School. I've been looking for a new computer for a while now, as mine is old and will not last forever, and a more modern operating system as well. Since Windows 7 has now been officially discontinued, certain services I'm dependant on will stop supporting it, the most important and urgent one for me being my internet bank service which has warned me recently about how it will not allow me to keep using the service unless I make sure my PC up to date with a modern OS and internet browser for security reasons. So if I didn't get something newer than 7 soon I practically wouldn't be able to pay my bills anymore. I haven't changed my mind about Windows 10 or anything, it's still bad, and Microsoft is still chilling near the top of my boycott blacklist as one of my most despised companies of all time, so I wasn't going to accept buying a new copy of Windows 10 anyway. So it was either try to find a suitable PC or laptop with no pre-installed OS and then try to learn Linux or something, or find a good deal on a second-hand PC or laptop with Windows 8 or 10 on it. So when my friend made the offer a couple of days ago to buy a cheap Windows 10 laptop he doesn't use anymore I didn't have to think twice about it and accepted the offer. Went by his place and picked it up yesterday. Assuming the specs are at least average, $50 is a steal (even if it is Windows 10), so I'd say you lucked out. Congrats, man! Totally agree about Microsoft. It seems like every other day I find something new to dislike about them. |

Downloaded Half Life, HL Blue Shift and HL Opposing Force on Steam yesterday. HEADS UP they are free to download (but not buy) for the next 8 weeks!! This is just awesome for me since I've never played OG Half Life or its expansions. I plan on downloading HL Source too.
4 games 4 free. How is that not rad?

Thinking it was a Video-CD of an obscure movie, I bought a Quicktime game called The Daedalus Encounter. Strato would like it, because it has a chick in it.

Hardware:
a second-hand HP Intel Core i5-650 dual core 3,2ghz desktop PC with an ATI Radeon HD 4730, 6gb ram and Windows 10 Professional
basically another cheap deal from the same friend that sold me the laptop recently
this PC is about a decade old but still lot more powerful than what I had prior, and with up to date software it fit both my needs and wallet nicely

Five years after I sold my copies, I found Diablo 2 + LoD for $2 at an Op Shop. I've made a new necromancer and this time, he's going to have a better build that doesn't depend on raising skeletons. I've been to Hell difficulty and the enemies make that build far too hard.

Do you have a wheel for racers? For many games it is totally worth it. Not for NFS, but other types of racers, yes. I have a few different steering wheels for consoles and PC, but I prefer playing games with controllers. |

Some games are actually made just for controller like NFS, although some arcade racers are easier with wheels. Personally I'm just not very good with controllers myself, but some guys are total pros with controller pads.

I bought Planetary Annihilation. A spiritual successor to Supreme Commander, but this time, your map is an entire planet. You can go up to the moon and build bases, even thrusters to crash it into the enemy base.
