A thread to share your latest PC gaming related purchases in.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a new mouse, a Trust brand mouse as their mice have served me well in the past, which will replace the cheap one I also got recently and has already started to show some wear and tear in the scroll wheel especially.
Last week I placed some orders online, among the other stuff was this thing:
a VGA to S-Video and composite RCA converter (NOT a signal converter like I thought it was, just a simple connector converter, the graphics card needs to have S-Video/composite signal over VGA for this thing to work or the image is scrambled and won't show properly on S-Video/composite compatible devices like TVs or projectors, bummer for me as I was hoping to play my PC games on my TV with a controller rather than on the PC monitor as I usually do)

The last thing I bought PC wise was a copy of diablo 1 and a copy of a game called the blue and the grey. It's about the american civil war and its made by sierra so it must be good. It won't work on my windows 7 computer though but will work on another computer I have. I want to install 2 OS on my computer just because it's cool and some games I have won't work on 7. Diablo 1 though works fine even though its a 95/98 program. Those 95/98 programs always work pretty good for me with a few exceptions. The person I bought it from also had diablo 2 which I want to get as well.
I have a copy of front lines fuel of war but I dont have a specific application or program I need to get it running. My other computer will play it because it has the program I need. My main one doesn't.

Such an awesome game! I have the Saturn version. This one is basically "Alien: Isolation" almost 20 years before Alien: Isolation. I don't understand how this game wasn't more influential, since it predicted most of the tropes common in horror games nowadays. |

IMP, for those who are not in the know what this game is, was a 1-on-1 arena style fighting game/monster collecting game for PC by the Swedish developer Idol FX and came out for Windows 98/2000 in 2001.
The idea was that you would purchase separate CD-ROMs for each monster you wanted at a lower price than buying a full game on just one disc, needless to say if they had been very cheap and distributed on a larger scale with proper backing and funding by some bigger brand with advertising abilities and all that it might've worked, sadly they were rather expensive for just one monster per disc and on top of that very hard to find as very select few stores ever sold them. I only ever found them in one local store myself. So it didn't last and never became a big thing like Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Jade Cocoon and so on.
I don't have all of them but I've managed to get hold of quite a few over the years. I originally bought a bunch when they were new and have since found wayward copies in different second hand shops. I rather liked the monster designs so whenever I see an IMP lost out there in the wild I just gotta catch it.
Also picked up some kind of video card to what seems like component and S-Video converter cable.

Odallus: The Dark Call, and some other games since it was in a bundle. Odallus is the one I wanted so I remember that one.
It had some rhythm racing game that looked like it could be fun.

Across the span of a few days I've gotten a lot of cheap games from the Steam Sale. Most of these are older games that caught my attention because I've never heard of them, although some of these games I've been interested in for awhile. Among those that ended up being good: -Wizardry 8-Arx Fatalis

-Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi

Damn, does that even work on a modern OS? I remember having alot of trouble trying to get the PC version of Virtual On to work. |
