This week, the social/cultural movement I want to talk about is the Black Lives Matter movement. I'm sure every american on these boards has heard of this movement by now, but still I would like to ask: what do you think of it? Do you support it or are you against it? Please discuss.

This may surprise a lot of people here but I actually have mixed feelings about the BLM movement. On one hand, the outrage over unarmed blacks shot by police officers is completely justified, since I personally hate police officers and every one that I've met have been either rednecks, skin heads, or morbidly obese conservatives, and I know from experience how much these douchebags hate lower class liberals like many blacks are, and there's undoubtedly at least some racism among them. So that's definitely something to be angry about.
But on the other hand, you have high-profile figures like Michael Jackson, John Cochran, and Chris Scarver who used the movement as an easy way to gain support for their own personal agendas, no matter how despicable it was. These scumbags ultimately did more harm then good and clearly did not believe in equality.
So, as someone who is an advocate for equality, I just feel most comfortable passively viewing the movement from a distance and refraining from being a part of it. There's too much uncertainty what any particular person is really after these days.

Do you honestly think that anyone would be completely against this movement?

Do you honestly think that anyone would be completely against this movement? Believe it or not there are a surprising number of people in America who despise this movement, mostly white supremists. I'm not sure if you know about this but a while back there was a riot thrown by white supremists in Charlotteville Virginia over the removal of a statue of a confederate general from public grounds in response to a 2015 racially-motivated mass shooting at a black gospel church in South Carolina that left close to a dozen blacks dead. It made national headlines and was the talking point of news outlets for weeks. There have been many other white surpemist protests across the US, too; the most recent one I can think of was in California, but I can't remember the details. I noticed someone on this board has since voted that they are completely against the movement. I wonder if it was scipioafricanus ?

Okay Spirit Bomb, I was sure no onr was going to say they were completely against it. But now there are two who voted that. I don't know what to say, but I'm disappointed.

I was here this morning. That extra vote was me. I voted because...why not?
It's not just white supremacists. It's also people who don't want to see all that civil progress undone. Progress made by people like Martin Luther King and even Frank Sinatra.
Personally, if I was a KKK grand wizard, I'd love BLM. Who needs to recruit for the Klan when BLM is doing it for you by turning more whites against blacks?
This hatred is like a scar: it takes 1 second to make a cut, but days for it to disappear totally. But only 1 second to pick the scar for it to bleed again.
And these anti-white negros are opening old wounds that need to stay closed.

I don't want to get involved but I do think it's important that these organizations exist, even though some of the members are flawed.

I actually like the police. They get a bad rap and sometimes rightfully so but they are usually the first ones on the scene when something bad happens and the first to respond. They have a dangerous job and they don't know if the day they are on patrol will be there last. Not all of them are racist or bad people. I like to think there are more good police officers out there than bad ones. If the damn mainstream media would stop fueling the fire by talking about bad cops and what they did and instead focus on the good cops for once things would be different.

MSM spin the story because revenue is more important than the truth. And reporters and editors sometimes have their own biases, i.e. they're full of crap. Got that, Spirit Bomb ? "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."
