I actually like the police. They get a bad rap and sometimes rightfully so but they are usually the first ones on the scene when something bad happens and the first to respond. They have a dangerous job and they don't know if the day they are on patrol will be there last. Not all of them are racist or bad people. I like to think there are more good police officers out there than bad ones. If the damn mainstream media would stop fueling the fire by talking about bad cops and what they did and instead focus on the good cops for once things would be different. Personally speaking, every other officer that I've met was a piece of shit. If you're well off then sure, they treat you well. But if you're a lower class citizen like me they don't give a damn about you. My POS mom pulled a knife on me while drunk a few months ago and when the police arrived the chief literally told me to "take my shit and get out of her house". They were more concerned about the fact that I was "trespassing" in my mother's house than the fact that she was drunk and acting dangerously.

I always thought you live in Florida. I might had been confused with someone else.

This thread is relevant again. Has anyone else been keeping up with the news surrounding the protests over George Floyd's death/murder? What do you guys think of it? Even though there have apparently been protests & riots across the country, I haven't seen any in my local towns. Also, I just want to remind everyone that I voted 3/5 I'm indifferent to the Black Lives Matter Movement; it looks like everyone else who voted are strongly against the movement (three people so far). What does this mean? Do we have racists on this board? Or do those three voters have motives other than racism? Makes me wonder... I haven't voted in this poll, but I think people who voted against this movement is for the same reason they don't identify as feminists. Sure, both movements are idealistically good, but there are so much bad stuff connected to them as well and therefore some people want to distance themselves from that. It doesn't they're racist or misogynists for not supporting those movements.

No, the people who voted "completely against BLM movement" obviously don't even consider it idealistically good; that would be someone like ME, because I voted "3/5 mixed" since I DO genuinely see both good and bad things in the movement, which is why I don't get involved with it but am not against it either. But saying you're completely against it means you don't see anything good about it whatsoever, which naturally can be interpreted as racism. It's especially shady since Donald Trump's tweets and reactions towards Floyd's death have been overwhelmingly criticized by the public as being insensitive towards George Floyd, and considering the majority of americans on this board are Trump supporters it paints a very suspicious picture of their attitude towards race. Personally I think everyone who voted 1/5 should explain themselves. I appreciate that centipede already did, but IMO everyone should. If you're not racist, then why not prove it by explaining yourself?

I don't recall seeing this thread before, but either way I voted for mixed opinions now. I've seen some areas around here close down due to threats of protesting but haven't actually seen anything go down. We aren't that far from Chicago were shit has gotten crazy. I'm all for the protesting because the man was definitely murdered but wish it didn't have to turn into rioting, looting, setting fires. Alot of businesses were just about to open back up and now aren't able to.

According to David Joo, one of the famous "Roof Koreans" from the LA Riots, the ones who were looting Koreatown weren't African Americans, but (opportunistic) Hispanics.
What do you want to bet that gang bangers and Antifa rich kids are using this latest police incident as an excuse to loot and break things?
Since the LA Riots in 1992, has nothing changed?

There is nothing to bet, since the riots started it was obvious that Floyd was an excuse to do those things, I mentioned it in the Covid-19 thread since the beginning, in fact, I predicted it was going to happen since March, those kids were just waiting for an excuse.

Correct. Why do pallets of bricks appear on corners? And a few videos are showing up of white hipsters handing out bricks to black men, only to be yelled at by others for what they are doing.

Their terrorists bro, notice how they are all easily brainwashing kids. All the media influence is paying off to those groups. Absolutely garbage people. They make actual protesters look bad. They are just making it worse.

Why are the police in America so aggressive. I honestly can't believe how anyone can kill someone lile Floyd by "accident". Don't the police officers care about the repercussions? Asking because I don't get it. Why has the culture become like this?

Asking because I don't get it. Why has the culture become like this? It's a generalization. Just like the protesters, there are good people, and trash, cops are in the same situation. A lot of it has to do with the protocols. Since the cops have to deal with trash, not civilized people, on a constant basis, the protocols tend to be more rigorous to protect cops from dying. The problem is that the line in those protocols is so fine, that it is incredibly easy to cross it, and once you cross it we are taking about the difference between a clean arrest, and people dying. That's it, if you understand the implications, and details of what I just said, that's exactly what happens, basically cops are constantly walking on a tie rope, and they can fall on the slightest blunder. Then again, not all cops are stupid, but it is easy for a stupid person to make everyone else look retarded if they belong to the same group. Just like the protesters that are a minority of people, yet a very small minority of people in a big city is still massive amounts of people, and if they are causing chaos they make the good protesters look just as stupid, even when they are not. On the same token, good protesters, can help some of the trash people to not look so trashy. It really goes both ways. There are very good people though, pacifists, smart people that don't do something just because they see another do it, people that can think for themselves, and they protest peacefully. Which it is something to applaud because many have been raised in the same circumstances of the criminals, yet they have principles, and values.

Years ago, it was the culture that police were "Peace Officers." Now change that up with today's "Law Enforcement." That is a very different philosophy.
