The automobile I will be discussing with the pub this week? Allow me to introduce you to my little friend, the Peel P50:  The Peel P50 is a 49 cc microcar and holds the Guinness world record as the smallest automobile ever produced. Unfortunately, it is no longer in production and is extremely scarce; original models can go for over $100,000. The Peel P50 was a british vehicle produced for a short time during the 60s that had a fuel efficiency of around 85 miles per gallon.
What do you guys think of this little beauty? I'd love to know. |

I'm not even joking around when I say that I would absolutely love to own a microcar like this. 50cc scooters are a great investment but as any seasoned biker will tell you there's nothing worse than having to ride one in a storm. The elements have always been the deciding factor in whether or not a ride on a scooter/motorcycle will be enjoyable or even tolerable. That's why these cars would be a total lifesaver for people who live in temperate rainforest climates like Washington state or Japan. I imagine even places like India would be much more enjoyable if you owned one of these during the monsoon season.
The Peel P50 is both fuel efficient AND shields one from the elements! So that leaves me wondering why the hell 50cc microcars aren't being made anymore?? I would love to buy one.

A little wind, and you are doomed. I would not dare driving this in the highway hills. It doesn't look safe at all. 50cc vehicles can't be legally driven on numerical highways, so you wouldn't have to worry about that. And it only has a top speed of like 28 mph. There really wouldn't be much to worry bout at all with this car. But keep in mind that England is, from what I understand, topographically much flatter than America or other parts of the world, so I don't think the makers of the Peel P50 intended it to be driven through hilly terrain in the first place. |

ill be too embarrass to be seen in it. took my test in a salmon pink coloured car which i wasn't happy to be seen in let alone something that is guaranteed to make people stare and laugh.

Side note: Was anyone else reminded of that apple-mobile driven by that worm from that children's show (can't remember the name) when they first laid eyes on the Peel 50? This is the one I'm thinking of:  Lol. Same color and everything! It even has "peel" in the name, like peeling an apple! What a coincidence. |
