They're looking too deep, at one point I thought Chris Nolan was racist too in The Dark Knight, and it is just the same as liking feet, it doesn't mean anything serious. Everyone has different fetishes, some are just not aware of their own.

I don't know what the hell fetishes has to do with this. As for the discussion, this is what's called reaching. None of these characters ypu brought up are racist. Is Vader racist now because he has black armor? That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. What bothers me more is that it seems to me that the Disney movies are more racist. What's more racist to you: making great characters regardless of skin color and gender, of making awful characters solely to include a race or more of a gender? Because characters such as Rose and Admiral Holdo are downright fucking terrible and they were made not because they are great characters, but because they wanted more women and Asian people. Now let's take a look at the Original Trilogy. Sure they don't have a lot of diversity I'm not denying that, but at least those that are included don't feel like SJWs. Lando and Leia are arguably some of the best characters in SW and it has nothing to do with their race or gender. Instead of shoehorning in SJWs they should focus on making actually good characters.

About Darth Vader: he is voiced by James Earl Jones, who is black, but is played on-screen by David Prowse and Bob Anderson, who are white, and by Sebastian Shaw when he takes off the helmet - also white. And Hayden Christensen in the modern trilogy. The character itself is also white. So I don't know how the hell could someone invent that Vader is a racist estereotype or something. "But black armor etc." - So dressing in black costumes is the same as having a darker skin tone? What the hell? Is now everyone in The Matrix a racist estereotype or something? Besides, even if Vader as a character was a black person and portrayed by a black actor, what racist element is there? Because he is the tragic villain of the story? A black person can't portray a tragic villain? That's messed up, MeleeMonk. I can't identify what the other characters are supposed to be stereotyping. Maybe I can see how someone could say that Jar Jar has manneirisms that resemble some Jamaican stereotypes, but it would still be reaching and we already have too many things to complain about Jar Jar. |

Just don't encourage it. People who look for racism everywhere are the inherent racists, because that is the only thing they see. Every normal person sees the first Star Wars movie (episode 4) and sees a movie. The racist sees the color disparity because, again, they are looking for it.
I'll bring up Adam Sessler and Resident Evil 5 again. He was all fine gunning down Spanish zombies in RE4. But when RE5 shows up, he thinks it is racist because a white character (Chris Redfield) is shooting African zombies (who happen to be black, big shocker in a game set in Sub-Saharan Africa).
If all YOU see is color, that is on you.
Now if you want to talk racism in film, we can talk about "Birth of a Nation."

I agree with all the other posters here, but I can see why people would think that. Nien Nunb (pic 2) actually does make me think of a little "jungle Asian", but that was probably not intentional. As for picture 7: You mean the brass rings? It's not uncommon for artists and designers to look to other cultures for inspiration. Take a look at this:  See how their helmets are similar? Plus, the Jedi themselves are basically space samurai with laser/plasma katanas.  And look where Princess Leia got her hairdos from:   It could be an entire setting. For example, Guild Wars had the land of Tyria (based on medieval Europe, complete with dwarves), Cantha (based on Asia, with a few specific euro elements with the Luxon and Kurzick peoples) and Elona (African and Arab based). In each campaign, you have enemies, armour and and weapon designs based on those regions. |

Hadn't heard about this phenomenon until now. Good thing they aren't a thing anymore on any meaningful scale. It's ironic how they use fascist methods to fight fascism. Anyone who uses violence like this to support their views or fight other views are misguided and should not be supported. |

Cervantes, get some manners please, and do some research about the film. I am NOT saying that Vader is a racist stereotype. Don't accuse me of inventing racism when I was merely pointing out a controversy that was stirred up by some audiences of Episode IV when it was originally released back in 1977. The 70s were the height of the "blacksploitation" era of filmaking, so maybe that had something to do with it, IDK. I'm not a film historian or anything. But I know for sure that many people denounced Star Wars A New Hope as a racist film for the reasons I mentioned. Don't believe me? Then watch Gene Siskel's review of The Empire Strikes Back from 1980: In it he specifically mentions the accusations of racism that were made against Episode IV. PLEASE watch the above review if you don't believe me. Christ, how could you be so quick to just denounce me as some kind of race-baiting bigot, Cervantes? I always thought you were smarter than this. |

I'm not sure what branch of democracy Norway's government is structured on, but Norway is known as being one of the most progressive and least-corrupt countries on Earth. Norway far outranks the USA in many areas such as longevity, access to quality health care, access to public transportation, recycling rates, etc., and has FAR lower greenhouse gas emissions per capita, as well as far fewer instances of obese citizens, climate change denial, and gun violence compared to the US. (for the record, I got most of this information from my various editions of Guiness Book of World Records) No offense, but comparing Noway to the United States is like comparing the Rebel Alliance to the Galactic Empire or the Trade Federation. |
