Hey guys. Arcades are the roots of video games, so I thought it should be one of the first things we talked about on the new forum.
What's your favorite arcade game? Mine is Mappy. It's fun, light hearted, and a pretty strategic game.

I'll go with Strider. It's quite trippy and has a future ninja fighting against communist cyborgs.

It is hard to say, probably Darius 2 with the dual screen. I like too many arcade games to just choose one :-)

I haven't played many in the arcades but of the ones I have, Ms. Pac Man takes the fruit. Excellent starter topic by the way!

720°, A.P.B., S.T.U.N. Runner, Roadblasters, etc. Atari made the best 90's arcade games if you ask me!
Always loved Namco's Assault, too.

How about... Sea Raider, released in 1969 by Midway players controlled their sub by looking through the periscope while bystanders could look through two windows on the top of the cabinet and watch the action.

My arcade knowledge is fairly limited, never having one near me, but Donkey Kong JR is always fun.

I'll say Super Hang-On for now. I'll reply in the distant future when I change my mind.

One I'm pretty sure only a handful of people (Including Mark) have heard of.
Bosconian
Most of the arcade cabinets were destroyed and replaced with Galaga cabinets, it sucks :C. Luckily enough I do own a couple of versions of it.

Does it have to be on arcade hardware? or is it the general meaning of arcade game? If its the latter, then i have to choose Geometry Wars 3. If its the former, then hands down, House of the Dead 2.

Sure i know that, but there is the "arcade" game design, which means getting a high score and such, which makes Geometry Wars 3 fall under the arcade category. but GW3 doesnt have an arcade machine, not that i know of.

I see your point, yeah I don't think it does, some Western games like Grid have coin operated machines, but it is rare since people in the West don't play in the arcades anymore. If that was the case I would love to see Mortal Kombat X, Killer Instinct (the new one), Strider (the new one), Super Stardust Ultra, and Resogun arcade machines for example. Also not everything in Japan is in the arcades, we didn't see Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 made it, that would had been cool as well.
