The quarantines have done a lot of the heavy lifting preventing deaths, but most importantly it has been all the cancelled events, and businesses. It could be a lot worse by now, but we are slowly getting better each day, hopefully we can keep this up. I respect people's decisions but that's not the kind of society I want. They speak of forever, but that's not the kind of forever we want to leave for the new generations. Hopefully people reconsider these norms after things get better, because nothing lasts forever, that's guaranteed. Quarantine game of the day:  |

Apparently the hospitals in some cities are on the verge of collapsing but Mr. Bolsonaro in his infinite wisdom goes against his staff's social-distancing advice by doing push-ups with supporters while publicly denouncing the pandemic. The article also mentions how he has been firing health ministers, while others have resigned. With any luck, his lack of social distancing will cause him to catch the virus and he'll die, ridding the world of his stupidity.

In the picture looks like everyone else is wearing a mask, which automatically protects him. Which means he may not get it. So even if he is not wearing a mask, he is taking some recommendations by surrounding himself with people's wearing masks. Quarantine game of the day:  |

I distinctly remember you trying to justify this pig over several posts earlier in this thread. You were giving Cervantes such a hard time that I swore it seemed like he was about to emotionally break down out of stress from explaining (in detail) Bolsonaro's failure as a human being to you. It was painful for me to read and you should be ashamed of yourself. It definitely sounded like you were sticking up for him in your recent reply when you said: "So even if he is not wearing a mask, he is taking some recommendations by surrounding himself with people's wearing masks." Sounded like you were giving him credit. The people around him most likely were not ordered by Bolsonaro to wear masks and instead willing chose to wear them out of their own concern, seeing as how he was shaking hands with pedestrians and lifting kids into the air like a reckless buffoon. He's already denounced the covid pandemic as mass hysteria, so there's little to suggest that he cares about enforcing safety protocols |

so there's little to suggest that he cares about enforcing safety protocols That's your mistake, I wasn't giving him credit, quite the opposite, obviously he doesn't care for protocols, but making everyone else around him wear a mask and only get in touch with people unlikely to have it, shows the hypocrisy. I guarantee you he wouldn't walk into a hospital with the sick without a mask. I never gave Cervantes a hard time. This is all in your head. In fact, I'm the one making this thread, which shows I wanted to members take theirs precautions. The virus didn't end up as deadly as it could, but that's only because everything closed. stratogustav and Spirit Bomb - The mask thing is funny to talk about because it has an even easier explanation: there's a damn strong suspicion around here that he already had covid around March. That was when he traveled to the US to meet Trump; this travel had less than 30 people on his plane, and we know for a fact that at least 23 tested positive right after they went back - his communications officer was the first one to show symptoms, then everyone who was in the plane started showing too. Days after that, Bolsonaro showed up on tv with some visible signs of sickness (coffing too much, feverish eyes), then Fox News asked about it to his son, who initially said he was infected, but right after Fox News published it he started denying and calling it fake news, which was absurd at the time because Fox was their biggest international ally, leading to Fox reporters being puzzled and angry at them. Then his younger son, during a streaming on Twitch, was dismissing the disease saying he himself had it and it was nothing (Twitch even banned him because he was spreading false information and being generally a piece of shit); to top it all of, Bolsonaro's wife just completely disappeared for around 15-20 days (she was missing even from his birthday, and she was always by his side before all this went down). Then, finally, there was a lenghty fight on justice to make him show his exams, with him trying everything to hide the results alleging that he needed to keep his privacy (keep in mind this is a guy that would show a live colonoscopy if that would make him "win" over his opposition: at the time of his stabbing, he was shirtless in every tv show to show his scar, and even posted hospital photos almost naked). When he finally lost, the exams shown were highly suspicious: they were signed by a doctor condemned by fraud a few years ago and were identified as the exams of someone else, with the government making an excuse that it was to preserve his identity, it really made no sense. There was absolutely no way to confirm that it was his exam besides his own word, and that was the end of it. If he had covid, why would he hide? Simple: after that travel to the US, he went to public gatherings various times, shaking hands with many people, including kids and the elderly; if he was sick and knew about it, he could be condemned, immediatelly removed from presidency and arrested, since knowingly infecting people is a serious crime foreseen in our constitution. Edit: Also, even his bodyguards got infected while this was happening.

Cervantes, that's some really twisted stuff. It's just like a movie level of nuts. Reality is often more astonishing than fiction, but it doesn't matter how many times that concept gets reassured, it still shocks me that is the case. That is madness man, hopefully Brazil can overcome this sooner than later despite all those horrible obstacles. Honestly it feels hopeless when there are sectors that basically have no way out.  There is no much that can be done in that kind of situation. It is just tough because that idea is hard to embrace, you can minimize a little, but the logistics, and odds are always a huge obstacle in that scenario, specially with a guy like that giving up in keeping his people alive.
