This is without a doubt one of the best action movies of all time. In many ways it's similar to Aliens in that it has a lighter tone than its original film and features more action, but in contrast to Aliens, I actually prefer T2 to its original film. This is one of the most important films to me because I watched it in my early teenager years and nothing was ever as cool as Arnold Schwarzenegger, and this movie embodied him as an actor more than any other movie. The Terminator is an icon, and most of that has to do with T2 even though the original film had a pretty good appearance of him. The film is filled with endless lines of gold, which in turn makes this movie endlessly watchable. It's been many years now since I last watched it, but I feel like it's time for a rewatch soon.

This is pretty much my opinion.

Completely agree, but Ed Furlong is annoying as John Connor.

John Connor T3 was a little bitch and the movie even gives an explanation to why. Sarah Connor wasn't around to build him up as a soldier so he became this limp no body. There was nothing wrong with Ed Ferlong imo. He was Smart, Brave and rebellious.

Yeah Michael Edwards was great. But to be honest I really liked Christian Bale as John Connor. He was the Scarred, Smart, Tough Leader type. A shame the Salvation was misunderstood. Every one complained that it was nothing like the flashbacks we saw in Terminator 1/2 but failed to know that Salvation was meant to be a trilogy where it builds up to the events of the flashbacks we saw.

Salvation's biggest crime is being so boring. It could almost be any generic military movie because aside from the occasional terminator, the film is so uninspired by its predecessors.

I'm going to have to disagree, dude. Salvation was more action packed than Terminator 1. It got all the characters right and showed us a great evaluation of John Connor.

I always had fond memories of that film, but last time I rewatched it (which was probably my 3rd watch), I vowed never to watch it again because of how inferior that movie is. I do think I'll watch it at least one more time just to get my thoughts written into a review on Letterboxd. I'll get back to you then with my final thoughts on it.

If T1 was inspirational, T2 was a machine of future artistic realities. No wonder this movie is in my top 5 best movies of all time. It is a killer production that piles up good decisions one after another. You turn on this movie, then all of the sudden you are not just watching a film, instead you are now watching a spectacle, and your eyes cannot look away because you are in for one the best artistic rides ever made. In fact, influential people have been influenced by this. Look at Akira Toriyama, the guy behind the Dragon Quest RPG series, who basically shook the world regardless of culture, with the global success of his anime series of Dragon Ball. Well, the influence is more than obvious, he even made his own John Connor with Trunks, in a plot that deals with time travel, including androids traveling to kill, and in Super, he even has an elaborate resistance of humans underground. And that's only one of many works that I have noticed take direct inspiration from the film, and who can blame them. If you are going to take inspiration you may as well take it from the best. Mortal Kombat Sonya ^^^.

I'm the most critical of Salvation of everyone I know, so that's not necessarily a controversial opinion to like it, but come on man... Alien: Covenant being the best? What drugs where you on that made that movie even watchable? It's just a re-run of cliches.
