Recent Movie Purchases

I agree with the guy, T2 has always been in my top movies of all time along with RoboCop, Fight Club, The Matrix, The Dark Knight, and The Empire Strikes Back, so anything that copies it makes it stand out.

Just like the guy said, Dark Fate wasn't a bad movie, and was worth getting because it copies T2 pretty closely, but they definitely could have done so much more.

"Dark Knight" is another movie that borrows some elements from different movies like T2 as well, RoboCop, and even stuff like Heat, but they did it in a way that puts it along those hits. "Dark Fate" didn't.

Heck even for Anime, I have been saying for years that the saga of Trunks has always been directly influenced by T2, even Trunks has the same hairstyle of John Connor.

As a consequence I would also add that the vast influence of T2 in media in general is kind of hard to quantify because it was a significant cultural revolution, and it would be hard for any other film to ever come close to that.

That's a big problem with these classics, that they are so good, that they basically screw every movie after because they don't leave any space for improvement.

I don't think any movie can ever be as emotional and give me goosebumps as the first RoboCop while using humor and sci-fi stuff.

Not other Batman movie will probably come close to The Dark Knight and the way Joker's performance impacted so many people.

The Matrix is even used by actual real life scientists and philosophers to stay their theories, so there is no way to beat that, even by The Matrix IP itself.

The Empire Strikes Back is such a masterpiece that new Star Wars films can be full on amusement experiences and still disapoint people.

And so T2 has set the standard for what futuristic action movies can be, that anything they try to do cannot likely ever follow an act like that.

Absolutely man. I actually dislike those movie collections that have no variety. A good collection needs to have all kinds genres, and type of movies. Otherwise it doesn't have a soul.

Also my home theater pretty much allows me too appreciate things I didn't care for before. Having a dedicated giant projector screen with a full surround system really makes all the difference.

Back in the day when I only had my 65" and a shitty soundbar I was truly missing out. Going from that tiny screen to the whole wall are two different worlds.

The only downside is that I got all of this before the pandemic started, so it has given me extra excuses to not leave the house, and that can be bad too.

No man, those covers are glorious. I would get laser discs just for the covers alone, and if I love the movie a lot I would likely frame it.

In the same Hollywood warehouse where I got my MK9 arcade machine I saw how many they still have stored.

They are all in perfect condition, brand new, sealed, and they have multiple copies. They also have the original posters for the movies premiers, and even things they used in set, plus the original scripts printed.

So I don't think they are going away any time soon, and it is still a good time to collect those.
