cobretti Qui Gon is mentioned briefly in episode 3. Much the same with the midichlorians, a throw away reference doesn't make the whole movie completely relevant. At the end of the day, Qui Gon is about as relevant to Luke's story as Watto or Sleazebaggano or the E.T. or any of the other dumb ass minor characters in the prequels are is, which is none. I didn't touch on Balder's point about the pacing earlier, which I want to bring up so it doesn't seem like I'm dodging. The way the author of the article that birthed the machete order put it, watching II and III after V makes the prequels act now as more of a "flashback". Once you treat it in your head as that, then the machete order isn't as jarring as it seems on paper. Yeah, its not perfectly consistent, but neither is watching them in release order or episode order. Machete at least clears up most of the confusing bits about the prequels, and trims a lot of the fat. At least in my opinion it makes a couple of otherwise inferior movies more tolerable. Plus, again, its about returning the saga to being about Luke. And watching II and III between Empire and Jedi, it makes the struggle with the dark side more apparent with Luke, since we are seeing him do some of the same things to Jabba's men as we would have just seen Anakin do as he gave in to temptation.

Throwing away a main character's origin because it's dumb and never mentioning in the the later movies is a terrible idea. Qui Gon is important because he is Anakin's original master, but that position has now been set over to Obi Wan who has to suddenly teach the chosen one. The Seperatist movement's motivation is thrown out the window along with I.
It's not about understanding a couple of seconds, but to understand the whole movie with it's motivations in general.

Balder respect level reset to zero. How did I lose your respect by stratogustav making a post? No. You no longer respect stratogustav because he's willing to give machete order a try. Those were your own terms, as first seen in this post. You can't lose something you never had, dude.

And yeah, we are sort of like mortal enemies.

Caught 7 last night (fo' free! shoutouts to the public library!!)
I was definitely impressed by the scale and bold plot twists (a black lead? talk about ballsy and heroic). There were elements to the narrative that I also hadn't expected (by now, I'm not spoiling anything, am I? There's a volleyball and it's name isn't Wilson!)
That being said, I could still see how the movie was confined by its ties to Hollywood going so far as to pander to the crowd.
I understand why this was probably a theater experience but even if I did see it in theaters, I probably still would have yawned at the lightsaber encounters.
If I were to watch the Star Wars over again, I'd probably just start from 4 and work my way up. 1 - 3 were wishy-washy and I ain't trying to clean no dishes.
