Caught 7 last night (fo' free! shoutouts to the public library!!) I was definitely impressed by the scale and bold plot twists (a black lead? talk about ballsy and heroic). There were elements to the narrative that I also hadn't expected (by now, I'm not spoiling anything, am I? There's a volleyball and it's name isn't Wilson!) That being said, I could still see how the movie was confined by its ties to Hollywood going so far as to pander to the crowd. I understand why this was probably a theater experience but even if I did see it in theaters, I probably still would have yawned at the lightsaber encounters. If I were to watch the Star Wars over again, I'd probably just start from 4 and work my way up. 1 - 3 were wishy-washy and I ain't trying to clean no dishes. Well they Finn was more of a main character than a lead character.

To be a main is to lead or have I been living a lie?

To be a main is to lead or have I been living a lie? Oh okay, but then what I meant was that Rey was the main main character.

IV(de-specialized edit), V(de-specialized edit), I-III(Rise of the Empire compilation fan edit), VI (de-specialized) and I'd wait on a fan edit for VII that takes out a bit of the nostalgic rehashing and puts in a bit more backstory on why Luke disappeared.

I watched all the movies on the theater. The old ones were put again in theaters after the 20th anniversary, so that's how I managed to watch those before Episode I came out.
Yoda always inspired me as a kid. One of my favorite moments was when he pulled out that lightsaber to fight Dooku. I could not believe that was happening. I was blown away.
I felt in I love with Episode IV. Those spaceship battles were even more exciting than lightsaber duels, and that says a lot because we all know as kid lightsabers are super cool.
However I always claimed Episode V was my favorite and it was. Simply because the heavy presence of Darth Vader, the Empire Strikes Back music theme, and the movie in general was exciting.
Then Episode VI came out and I became heavily dissapointed. The only good thing from the movie is knowing that Darth Vader was Luke's father. Also those bikes were cool on the forest, but that was it for me.
Episode I was more of the same, in my mind it is not as bad as people say it is, I connected with seeing a young Darth Vader innocent and ready to find the force. I would say it's on par with Episode VI.
Episode II was great to me, and Episode III was definitely better than I, but far from being as good as II. Episode VII was cool to see. I liked it all the way until Kylo Ren took his mask off. I don't know why that took the magic away, but it did, the movie felt of less quality after that.
Rogue One on the other hand got me excited again. Something I didn't experience since Episode V. Episode II was exciting for the moment, but Rogue One just like Episode IV and Episode V got me excited to what's to come.
I admit it had some Star Trek moments, but it definitely had the soul of the saga, the soul that made the first two movies great. I also thank Disney that I finally understand what the letters at the beginning of Episode IV mean. That's something I always thought I would understand as an adult, and I was right, but it would not had been possible without Rogue One.
This happens because other than Rogue Squadron (that I finished 100% on my N64) and the X-Wing VR Mission on my PS4, I don't consume any other kind of Star Wars media. I'm an exclusive follower of the movies and that's it. So take that perspective as is because it makes a difference when you don't know anything outside what's on theaters.

Dude, can someone explain why he didn't want to wear the glasses? I had encounter situations like this too many times in my life and I never understood why people act like that. In Spanish there is a word for it, called "capricho", which in this case would make the black guy "caprichoso". I still haven't find a proper English translation for that word, only random approximations. My theory is that there is a massive blindspot for people that are "caprichosa", they would never admit that they are, so not having an actual word for that kind of behavior is a good thing for them to defend their cause, whatever that is.
