Against my better judgement, I've picked up from where I gave up two years ago with Andromeda. I played it for 20 minutes and then promptly never played it again until yesterday. I still think the characters are weak as fuck and compared to the other games where it was always hard to pick only two characters for your squad, here it's the complete opposite. There's a single character and I don't mind having in my squad and the rest are terrible. The animation is worse than it was in even ME1. The combat is fun and I do like the new setting as it distinguishes it from the trilogy enough, but it still is familiar. Hopefully I can get through it this time. I ache for a replay of the trilogy though. Those games were nearly flawless. In fact, the 2nd game is flawless to me. 2 is perfect for me as well.
Give Andromeda a try. It gets better as you play. Not the greatest experience... but it was a start to something that will not happened anymore.

It's a fair enough game. It has some Mass Effect elements that I love, however, the open world aspect only makes the game progress slowly, and I don't like that. Other than that though, there are some fun quests.

I've been playing now for over 24 in-game hours and the pacing is slow as fuck. There are way too many sidequests that lead to fuck all. There are so many fetch quests and no meaningful choices. I wish the dialogue options would lead somewhere like they did in the ood games, but here they are barely different. Why did they take out the Paragon/Renegade system? That aside, I do like the setting in that it feels different than from the trilogy, but the quality of pretty much everything is worse, sadly.

Unfortunately this is one series I couldn't get into and I really wanted to like it. Mass Effect 2 is one of my cuisines favourite games of all time and he pushed and pushed me to play it. An RPG that's a third person shooter?, sounds great. But five hours in and nothing has happened. So I switched it off and never played it again.

I finally finished Andromeda and it's heen such a slodge. The game is riddled with time wasting quests that when the final mission of the game rolls around, I was surprised it ended there. In all of the other ME games, you know when you're stepping into the final mission, but here it was like: oh, this is it, huh? The final mission had some pay off in that all of your allied factions come to your aid. Still, the final mission of the game was still just killing the same Kett and Remnant enemies that you've been killing for the whole game. Lackluster and subpar are the two words to describe everything in Andromeda. I can't believe I actually spent so much god damn time here. I should've just replayed the original trilogy and had a blast, but instead I roamed around in Andromeda doing mostly fetch quests while driving around in that fucking space car.

Good excuse to break out the remastered trilogy when it arrived. One thing that confused me in Andromeda was the NOMAD not being armed. Driving around shooting could actually be fun in the MAKO in short bursts.
