Am I the only one here who doesn't like the ds? I like it a bit I admit but not a whole lot. There's so many bad ds games out there I swear. I find bad games on the ds all the time mostly shovelware crap. Then there are the good games which there are a lot of but I honestly find more shovelware titles out there when compared to good games whenever I find ds games.
It's kind of like how I feel about the wii. 80% to 90% of that library on that system was shovelware and it just had historic amounts of it. I say that 10% to 20% of its library was the good stuff.
Anyone else feel this way? I know I cant be the only one out there who is like this.

Sorry lukefonfabre388. I quite enjoyed the DS and 3DS, and much like the Wii, the amount of shovelware doesn't really bother me. Since we live in an age where game reviews and information are very easily available, it is pretty difficult to get caught unaware by shovelware. I don't think I ended up purchasing any games for either system that I regret. That said...I was an employed adult when the DS was released. I think shovelware has far more impact on children, who may get a lot of their presents from uninformed parents or grandparents, and are often much more likely to ask for a licensed game based on a television show, movie or toy line they like...and end up with shovelware. So, much as I think the issue hasn't affected me much, I do think it is impactful to others.

I enjoy some of the games on the ds at least the ones that I played. But who wants to sit down and read reviews on ds games just to find out if they are any good or not. The library for the ds is so big that it feels like you got to sort through the whole thing to find good ds games.

To be fair, we're mostly here because of a game review show, so I think it is safe to say that some of us like it Certainly it is different going at the list now, when the full library is out, rather than as it was released. But there are lots of resources for at least getting a start. Heck, Youtube is full of "Best of" or "Hidden Gem" lists for any system at this point to let us sort out the chaff.

Ya but there's people out there who dont like the ds. I know that smash bros guy hates the wii and well im not a big fan of it either mainly because of motion controls on just about every game it's maybe not that bad. Or at least not as bad as I thought but I still think its a piece of shit sometimes.

No worries man. Not everyone has to like every console. I'm just saying that modern life has given us wonderful ways to sift out the bad stuff. If Mark can find things to like about Atari 5200 games, then something like the DS doesn't have it so bad I will say that much like the Wii and motion controls, the best DS/3DS games are the ones that use touch controls and the second screen in useful or intuitive ways. Meteos is an example of a great touch-puzzle game, and having played some of the GBA Castlevanias recently, I really appreciate how the DS entries in that series have the map available on the second screen. I also think that a lot of the best (and worst) of the mobile market owes a fair bit to the DS' use of touch controls. That said, games that go out of their way to interrupt the flow just to use the latest control gimmick can certainly be frustrating, and the DS had more than its fair share of that.

That said, games that go out of their way to interrupt the flow just to use the latest control gimmick can certainly be frustrating, and the DS had more than its fair share of that. See my problem is that when I had a few games on the ds that used the stylus it hurt my arm real bad to play. I bought cod4 and that was hard to aim on there as well as being painful after a time because you used the stylus to do it. That kind of hurt the ds experience for me and that kind of made me not like the ds at the time. Now I know not every game is like that on ds though but a lot do have something to do with the touch screen. Then again when I had the ds all I played on it was pokemon mainly because I didn't have anything else to play. You think I didn't get tired of playing pokemon all the time? I had a lot more games for my gba sp because I kept that when I got my ds. I usually ended up playing that more often because I had more to choose from on there to play because I had built up a small little collection on it by the time the ds was out. I regretted selling my sp to gamestop a few years later that was a mistake.

I'm rather indifferent to the DS, but it seems technically inferior to the PSP.
Do you feel the same way about the 3DS?
I've been eyeing the 2DS for a while. It's either that I'll buy or an original DS which can play GBA games.

I think much of the original ds library has aged horribly, even though most of the games aren't even a decade old. The sound on the system is tinny and unimpressive. Plus, it's pressure sensitive touchscreen really is hard to go back to in the age of multi-touch smartphones.

The sound on the system is tinny and unimpressive. hones. Definitely true. When I first got my 3DS, one of the first games I popped in was Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and I was astounded by how much better it sounded.

That was definitely one thing they had on the first 3ds model was better sound.
