I definitely did! I have only a small number of them, the ones released way back in my country to my knowledge, so I have lots of memories of non-game characters, chilli-dogs and even of a few cartoons he was in before the regular series of the 2000s and up.

I read a few of them when I was a kid. I also remember there was a collection of covers in the sonic mega collection for the PS2.

winnersdontusedrugs I saw those too! I saw one of the covers and asked 'Does Sonic really need such a big supporting cast?' And what I heard later was it went from a kid-friendly adventure series/kiddie version of Conic SatAM to a furry romance series. However, all that was retconned by the recent Sonc vs Megaman series.

to a furry romance series. Yikes, funny thing is i think I remember reading about some of that back when the comics were being published as a kid. Even as a Sonic fan I had to pass on that, it was uncomfortable how similar it was to a soap opera. |

winnersdontusedrugs I guess it was a misguided attempt to keep their young readers in the series. Their audience read them as kids, but then they started growing up, so they tried to put a more adult element into the stories and jsut ended up making them more awkward. And now that I think of it, as I'm typing this, they were either lucky or clever enough to keep the comic afloat during the years where the Saturn lost to the Playstation and N64.

I love Sonic's original design: that old-school animation, Felix the Cat style. He doesn't look as cool anymore.
