If you are picking up chicks I would say there are very important things to consider.

1. Make sure you like her looks.

It sounds like you are doing this whole thing of talking to these strangers at purpose, so at least make sure you like her at some level. If you are just going to stop someone for no reason at all, it is going to be awkward because there is no purpose behind it.

2. Make sure your tone of voice doesn't sound like you are begging for something.

It is easy to make this mistake if you are the one starting the conversation because at some level you may trigger yourself to believe you are asking for something, and obviously coming off as a begger is the worse.

3. Make sure she can hear you.

If she has headphones make hand gestures and wait for her to take them off, the same thing goes with the cellphone. If she is walking plant your feet until she gives you attention. Then walk with her if she was walking already. Make sure your voice is loud enough. There is nothing more annoying than people thinking they are shouting and you can't even understand what they are saying.

4. Speak normal.

Have you seen how some people talk like they never went to school or trying to be cool or just straight up having a hard time putting words together? It's just terrible. Just talk normal. Women like to be threated like humam beings.

Now that said, every one is different, so the key is to match your own personally with 100% consistensy. If you are not acting as you normally would 100% of the time, you are coming off fake, and you can't trust someone fake.

It is infinite times better to come off as someone lame that matches his own personality as someone who appears as if he is hiding something. If you are a stranger, coming off as someone reliable is quite important.

For me smiling and being in a very joyful/playful mood helps insanely, but for others it may just be weird, so it all depends.

I had met quite a lot of girls on the day while they are walking doing their own business. Although it has been in moments where I was also minding my own business and it just happens that I saw someone I liked.

What I do is I walk with them talking, and when things look like there is no rush anymore and we are both investing in the conversation I invite her for Starbucks with the whole purpose of finding more about herself as I like to appear very interested in finding out who she is.

Then from there we set up a date, and depending on the girl, it can go all down right there on the first date we setup, or sometimes even 3 to 5 dates down the line. Some girls are definitely worth waiting for. The less you rush it the faster it happens. This has been very consistent. It just works every time.

Edit: I forgot to mention, definitely make sure you shower, you wash your mouth, you brush your teeth, you cut your nails, you remove your hair nose, no dandruff, no ear wax, you at least shave your neck, you put more than enough deodorant, maybe even use a cologne, etc.. It is not complicated to appear as civilized person.

But... to eat the grass, the gazelle must lower his head. Oh, what a cruel joke Mother Nature has played!
