I'm in the middle of watching and rewatching all of the Bond movies. There are many I haven't seen (particularly the newer ones) so this is going to be super fun. All of the Bond movies up to Daniel Craig's ones have been uploaded to YouTube for free if you're living in the US or have a VPN. This movie is amazing and most likely the best one of the bunch (haven't seen them all yet). Here's my review:
"This is it, the perfect Bond movie. It has takes everything great about the two first Bond movies and amplifies it as well as adding more meaningful tropes to the Bond mythos. The two first Bond movies were relatively grounded in realism of what happens, Goldfinger takes us up another level of over the top-ness, however, it is just there at the breaking point for me and it rules. It introduces the larger than life bodyguard trope, the laser execution device, the super gadget car and a villain that is fixated on some substance (in this case gold). The opening is amazing and I love the title screen, so damn iconic. Sean Connery has his best Bond performance here and his deliveries are super smooth and classy. The villain Goldfinger is just the perfect Bond villain. He has a masterplan and lots of quirks that I can see even myself in, haha. Goldfinger is like me, but with movies. This movie is filled to the brim with awesome action set pieces with great characters and pacing. Bond perfection. It has been a long time since I saw this movie and it was such an experience to rewatch it as it instantly became my favorite even though I remembered it being worse. I think my experience of watching this movie the first time was tainted by the circumstances I was in at the time." 5/5 a deserved classic, fucking legendary.
