I'm willing to bet it's going to play like Rage 2 and not use 3's vastly superior gameplay mechanics. Regardless I'm going to play it just so I can spam-fuck the entire internet with my extremely negative review of it. But why, you're already doing so well without having played it.

By the way, Cervantes have you ever played Streets of Rage 3? I've been wanting to ask you that for a while now.

Spirit Bomb - Yep, a lot. Loved playing it when I was at my cousin's house (in the mid to late 90s, he had a Mega Drive while I had a NES and a Saturn). While I fully agree with you that the mechanics are generally above SoR2 (more attacks and the rolling moves make it a more varied, faster game), I remember thinking at the time that it just wasn't as fun as the previous entries: there was something about level design or enemy behaviour, besides the general tone/style that I didn't like as much (going more towards cyberpunk themes and experimental music in contrast to the gritty city at night and dance music from SoR1/2). I like its pixel art, though, and it may even be the better of the three in that department.

You should definitely give SoR 3 another try, especially since you haven't played it for decades now. I can understand not liking some of the aesthetics as much, but the gameplay, depth & challenge level are so incredible that it blows 1 & 2 clear out of the water. The hardest part is finding a copy, since the genesis/Mega Drive cartridges are very pricey and it was never re-released in physical form outside of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, but I hate that version because I don't like the dualshock and Xbox d-pads. It was also included on Sonic Gems Collection, but only in Japan. I'll never forgive myself for selling my original genesis cartridge years back. Have you considered emulating it?

Well, at least it won't be made by Eidos, those versions of Street Of Rage never took off. They were called Fighting Force and direct sequels to the Genesis games.

Ah, yes, I've also read that Fighting Force started as an oficial entry in the series. How many times did Sega tried to do a proper SoR4? Because I know there were also a few Dreamcast prototypes.

I don't know if they count but the Spikeout games were kind of 3d spiritual successors to SoR, they were pretty good too.

Cervantes, those guys' content is not reliable at all, I saw a video where they listed Lament Of Innocence and Curse Of Darkness next to Castlevania 64 and Legacy Of Darkness. It's hard to forgive a mistake like that.
