Yep, Sega took it down, thankfully only after it was complete - which was seen as a good act by most fans, as if Sega was, at the same time, protecting their IP while actually letting fans do their job. It was as if the take-down notice was acompanied by a *wink wink*.
Surprisingly, Nintendo actually did a similar thing with another huge fan project: AM2R, the fan-made Metroid 2 remake, which is an amazing game in all regards. Nintendo only took it down when it was finished. Of course, that was an exception to Nintendo, as they tendo to be much more controlling and hostile to fan creations than Sega and tend to take down big projects much earlier.

Things seem to be changing now that Bowser and Furukawa are in control. I just read that they aren't going to censor games anymore either. I suppose that is only natural when the antagonist gets a hold of the reins. |

Oh man, the soundtrack!
While the art style is still a huge departure, the designs and animation themselves are very well made and the gameplay looks awesome. Let's see who will be the other character/characters.

The design is about what I'd expect from an indie dev. She looks fun to play so no big deal. I hope these aren't our only three characters though, I need to play as a grappler or I'm not gonna be interested in the game for more than 10 minutes.

winnersdontusedrugs - On the "title screen" image they're using, there's still one obscured character. Going by its silhouette, we can assume it's a very muscular guy with a robotic arm, I'm guessing he will be the grappler.

Cervantes If I had to guess probably play like Zan, who was cool but not a grappler. Hopefully he is though.

I'm surprised you'd be willing to buy it knowing that it lacks the extra mechanics and depth of SoR 3 and the fan remake. I remember you posting about how big a fan you are of those two titles? |

A lot of SoR fans hated the fact that Max wasn't carried over into Rage 3 as a playable character, and he was the only character I personally enjoyed playing as in 2, mostly because his dash attack covered a lot of distance and really helped speed up the snail-pace feel of the gameplay. It's a shame that SoR 3 didn't include Max and Adam Hunter, which would have made it better-than-perfect. But considering the sheer amount of work that went into the other areas of the game such as the spritework and the gameplay, as well as including several unlockable characters like Roo, I can forgive their omission. This new game however just doesn't seem to live up to any of the classic console titles in any way, and I don't understand why a game with such average presentation even by modern standards doesn't include more playable content than the penultimate finale on the Genesis/Mega Drive back in 1994. |
