Just looked up what the pricing will be for the PlayStation Classic here in Sweden.
Most places will sell it for 1500kr, some places have it listed at 1700kr.
The funny thing is the american price of 100 US dollars when converted to swedish crowns in only 880kr, almost HALF of the actual retail price.
That's insane. The NES and SNES classics are around 700 and 900 respectively and they're available everywhere because nobody wants them, they're in full stock everywhere and have been almost since they were released, the select few individuals who wanted them already got one of each when they were brand new, the rest have been collecting dust on store shelves and probably will continue to do so until they drop enough in price that people like me may start caring enough to pick one up.
So yeah, in regard to that, call me crazy but I predict the PSX classic may not sell that well here, with that literally insane price and the already low interest for that kind of product here it'll have a very hard time convincing even the most hardcore collectors to buy one let alone all the regular gamers and people who just want a simple nostalgic emulator.

Final list: - Battle Arena Toshinden - Cool Boarders 2 - Destruction Derby - Final Fantasy VII - Grand Theft Auto - Intelligent Qube - Jumping Flash - Metal Gear Solid - Mr. Driller - Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee - Rayman - Resident Evil Director’s Cut - Revelations: Persona - Ridge Racer Type 4 - Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo - Syphon Filter - Tekken 3 - Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six - Twisted Metal - Wild Arms I like that they have Dig Dug 3. Destruction Derby and Rainbow Six are more N64 games for me, they look better on the N64, but I like these versions too. I would have preferred to have the first Gran Turismo instead of Destruction Derby, and maybe something like Medal Of Honor instead of Rainbow Six, or even better, Omega Boost. I would also have preferred GTA2. It was more deserving than the first one. It's still a solid list, I like it. Balder you have no excuse now, be a man of your word, it has Rayman, and Battle Arena Toshinden. I may still get it for R4, Puzzle Fighter, and Tekken 3. I love those games. The Japanese version is much better with Gradius Gaiden, G-Darius, Parasite Eve, and Armored Core. I wish it had something like X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, or any of the ISS Pro Evolution games, but nothing is perfect.

stratogustav those are the best games on that whole console (and I'm not talking about the PS1 mini). Anyways, I'm not going to buy it. I already own both of them, and I play them every year.

Besides, I think the whole mini consoles are dumb. The prices they're going for are simply way too much for that old games. They could probably have released 100 games on that thing and it would have cost the same. It's all emulation in the end anyways.

Final list: Lots of games... Twisted Metal 1? 2 was much better, as I recall. I'm a bit surprised about that one. I used to go over to my friend's house and play that one for hours on end. As for GTA 1, I had some great memories with the LAN multiplayer on the PC. I don't think it had that capability for the PS1 (correct me if I'm wrong), so I wouldn't have put that on there either. I wonder why they picked some sequels, but chose not to use others.

The NA selection is kinda dissapointing fer shuer. Although I can sort of see the rationale behind it. i.e catering to a widely divergent audience and pleasing as many people as possible - This way most people are bound to resonate with at least a quarter of the selection... But the Japanese version... That's worth it for Gradius Gaiden alone. I believe I will be getting that one. On the price, considering those games usually cost about $10 on PSN individually, you're essentially getting them at half price plus a kewl pocketable mini replica. I suppose that's not so bad... from a certain point of view...

The prices they're going for are simply way too much for that old games. Way to disappoint man. Old games are more valuable than new ones. Everyone in this forum should know that. Plus emulation or not, it is an official release. You're an engineer man, 100 bucks is like a burrito to you. As for GTA 1, I had some great memories with the LAN multiplayer on the PC. Yes, I wonder that too. I understand Tekken 3 because it was in the top 5 PS1 games, also Cool Boarders 2 was popular, but R4 is a strange pick. I like that they did it though. I want to play that game. Gradius Gaiden alone. I believe I will be getting that one. My Japanese is not as good as yours.

I rather just buy the real thing, and since I already own the real thing, why buy the inferior emulated one?

and since I already own the real thing, why buy the inferior emulated one? That's the only good argument. I'm just remembering you saying that if they were to re-release those games you would pre-order, but now that is real, you back down. But yeah, having the originals wins, although there is nothing wrong from getting a game you love one more time. Older games cost more though. Unless you mean emulation.

I said I would buy them if they released another one in the series. I would also buy them if they released like a HD remaster for a real console. If I'm going to re-buy any of them, I'm getting the Saturn versions, as they are actually different from the PlayStation releases.

OK, if you buy the original Saturn versions you have a pass on not getting these ones. By the way, the PS1 was a real console. This is just a newer iteration.

I wasn't referring to the PS1 as a fake console, I was referring to the mini consoles as they aren't real consoles. What is a console to you? When consoles go full digital would they still be consoles? Digital releases are physical, except that the console itself is the physical copy. Games that came out on the Arcades and then were ported to the Atari 2600 may not have the same quality, you may say they were emulated, but they are still games, and the 2600 is still a console. Is there a minimum of games for a system to be a console? Do you consider the Game Wave and the Hyperscan consoles? The newer wave of Classic versions of legacy systems are consoles, even if they are limited to a greatest hits compilation, or in the case of the NES, and SNES, versions, to ALL the games released through hacking. They are still dedicated gaming devices, entertainment systems, and platforms that belong to a number of iterations of the same name. Think of the Wii Mini. You could no longer buy digital games with it, or use GameCube games, which reduces the Wii library significantly, but it is still a Wii, just a newer iteration.

One must be able to buy games for it to be a console. Hyperscan is a console. Atari 2600 does not emulate games, it has arcade ports of games which is completely from emulation. When everything goes digital, you can still buy games, which means it's still a console. The mini-consoles are not real consoles, they're plug-and-plays.
