Zeppelins are awesome, but come on, we need planes. And the 9/11 argument is hopefully just made in jest, as it's insignificant historically to what planes have done for the world. Why? If planes had never been adopted as a form of public transportation, global warming wouldn't be nearly as bad right now. Planes ain't the worst thing dude.

Well, I just gave you one good reason why they are one of the worst things for the planet. Are you just going to dismiss what I said? Or are you genuinely unaware of the massive greenhouse gas emissions planes & jets create?

Eh, this planet could use some global warming to be honest, it snowed here last night and it's not even All Hallows Eve yet. I say crank it up at least another ten to fifteen degrees.
Everyone should drive their own Batmobile to help this noble cause.
And no, this is totally not just my way of trying to get a free Batmobile. Your silly potential accusations amuse me!

Armored Core Raven I saw something on the news about Swedish farmers having trouble with climate change. Is there any truth to that? BTW PINKY PONK FTW!

centipede Yeah, because of the extreme summer we had this year, with intense heat for a very long non-stop period, the harvests suffered dramatically as a result, I don't remember the numbers but the produce was like 60% of what they usually get, 40% was lost, and they had to emergency slaughter a lot of livestock and in some places they'd allow communal fields to be used for livestock to eat because the farmers lands didn't have enough grass growing to feed them all. I think the situation was similar in Finland as well.

We're talking about greenhouse gas emissions, not oil spills.

Interesting article, but I don't understand why we're suddenly talking about boats in a thread about aviation. Regardless, I wanted to highlight the most interesting part of that article. Copy-pasted: "The problem isn’t necessarily with the ships’ 109,000-horsepower engines that endlessly spin away 24 hours a day, 280 days a year. In fact, these powerplants are some of the most fuel efficient units in the world. The real issue lies with the heavy fuel oil the ships run on and the almost complete lack of regulations applied to the giant exhaust stacks of these container ships."
I'm no expert on boats or anything relating to vehicles, but based on this section of the article, it seems that oil is the problem, due to severe lack of regulation. This has always been an issue in the US, as we are the only country that still denies climate change, leading me to believe that these boats are either designed by americans or owned/operated by american corporations. Interesting... Another interesting part, copy-pasted: "...the 15 largest ships in the world emit as much nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide as the world’s 760 million cars."They didn't necessarily say that the 15 biggest boats of the world emit more greenhouse gas than all the cars on Earth like you implied. They merely said that they emit as much nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide as all the world's cars combined, which suggests that they are still overall more green than all the world's cars.

Those pollution gases are pretty bad for the environment though. CO2 isn't inherently bad. But a lot of CO2 traps radiation.

Did you know? Blimps are safer than planes. The majority of passengers survived the hindenburg disaster, whereas plane crashes almost always have a 100% mortality rate. Balder scipioafricanus thoughts?
