Well blimps have TWO CLEAR ADVANTAGES (i.e. greener and safer) over planes & helicopters. That should be enough proof that they're the superior form of aviation in most situations. They're also slow as fuck, are expensive to maintain and can't carry a lot of people compared to modern aeroplanes. They're slow? Well, cruise ships move at less than half the speed as blimps, have slower acceleration, and can't traverse over land, but modern society still loves using 'em. Expensive to maintain? You're gonna have to provide a source for that claim. I mean, what makes them more expensive to maintain than planes? They weigh less (only a fraction as much) than planes, so I would think that their maintenance would be cheaper. Give me proof. I want proof for that claim. Can't carry as many people? That's because they were fazed out prematurely. Who's to say that airships larger than the hindenburg couldn't have been made? Of course they could have been made. And if an airship was made that matched the passenger capacity of a boeing 747, it would only require a fraction of the fuel/electricity that a boeing 747 would. This is because airships are greener than planes are. So far your argument ain't lookin' too good, Balder. At this rate you're gonna have to throw in the towel. |
