 What do you think of zeppelins and airships? (the latter is also known as blimps and dirigibles) I ask because I have become increasingly obsessed with airships in recent time, and am very disappointed that they are no longer in use, and thus I cannot experience one.  I've been fantasizing about making my own dirigible and sailing into the sky, even though that could never actually happen. I think what I love most about them is that they are the greenest (AKA most fuel-efficient) form of aviation, and their slow speed really allows one more time to take in the scenery. As an environmentalist I whole-heartedly endorse blimps and would only take blimps when traveling by air IF they were still in use. |

Fun fact: If blimps had remained the primary form of public aviation, 9/11 would never have happened and the twin towers would still be around.  |

Fun fact: If blimps had remained the primary form of public aviation, 9/11 would never have happened and the twin towers would still be around. Zeppelins are awesome, but come on, we need planes. And the 9/11 argument is hopefully just made in jest, as it's insignificant historically to what planes have done for the world. |

9 / 11 is the whole excuse why everyone is monitored worldwide through gaming consoles, smart phones, PCs, tablets, and other smart devices like TVs. It is also the reason why thousands of Afgahn people, Iraqi people, and American people died in the last 15 to 17 years during those wars, even if they were not directly related like the case of Iraq. It is also why Isis exists.
Although I don't think zeppelins could ever compete with planes, and even if planes weren't the thing, I'm sure they would have found a way to make 9 / 11 happen regardless. Most people assume the planes had nothing to do with the melting steel, and bombs, just like they had nothing to do with tower 7.

Modern airships don't use hydrogen, and the Hindenburg wasn't designed to use hydrogen, either; it was supposed to use helium. The only reason they used hydrogen for it was because the US wouldn't sell helium to Germany at that time (helium is a precious gas and cannot be created cheaply like hydrogen, so Germany had no way to obtain their own supply of it). From what I've read modern airships strictly rely on hot air for lift, which isn't flammable and is dirt cheap to produce, unlike jet fuel. |

If planes had never been adopted as a form of public transportation, global warming wouldn't be nearly as bad right now. |
