Since the driving hate thread has been revived, it was about time we revived this one. It's been a while since we talked about driving lately, but driving is pretty wicked for me now and these past 3 months. My roommate moved out and now I've got the whole parking space for myself. Never again will I have to deal with tandem parking bullshit. That's my personal hell, or at least one of my personal hells. There aren't any toll stations between the place I live now and university, so I can drive without breaking the bank, which is terrific.
On a side-note, my masters project is coming up soon, and the topics themselves have been presented, and one of them is about correlation between oil prices and gas prices at gas stations. My professor has a hypothesis that gas stations may be run like a cartel. There are no ways to check gas prices without actually going to the gas stations themselves, and sometimes there are spikes (about once a week) on a all major gas station chains. It's slightly concerning because gas is a commodity most people rely on and cannot circumvent this necessity. It's then very shady of gas stations to fix the price on key times in the week. It still hasn't been decided whether or not I get this topic, but it's going to be an interesting project if I get it.

Here in the states we have some that are peer driven, so people can report prices they see.

We have apps where people can report pricings, but since pricings change several times a day, it's never updated often enough. Too few people living here for these apps to be useful. There are more people living in New York City than in our entire country.

Sundays and Monday mornings are the cheapest times in the week, while Monday in the middle of the day is the most expensive.

I am still planning on buying the Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4. It's a very underrated car and is overlooked. I've heard lots of things about them. They can be expensive to fix up if they weren't well maintained. They have a lot of tech in them like all wheel steering, active aerodynamics, active exhaust, all wheel drive all sorts of stuff that could break on them. They're one of the most technologically advanced cars to ever be made. I don't care though if they have a lot of stuff that can break on them. I am absolutely hell bent on getting that car and nothing is going to change my mind now.
I want a 1993 model year though. First generation of the car but has the additional 40 horsepower and pop up headlights. After that they did away with the pop up headlights ):
There is a 350z up for sale in a car lot up the road from me. 2006 with over 100,000 miles on it. Not sure on the exact mileage but I have looked at it online. Base model though with I believe an automatic. I really want a manual one though. I'd also prefer not to buy from a used car lot as they seem to come and go whenever. I'd prefer to buy from a dealership though despite any disadvantages. At least they can check if the car is mechanically sound or not and can stand by the deal they made. The only thing with the Mitsubishi is I'm not going to buy a car that old from the dealer. They're not likely to ever have one due to the age of the car and because of the rarity of them especially the vr4 model.
I wonder if I will have trouble getting parts for the Mitsubishi as it gets older. Scotty Kilmer on YouTube said that Mitsubishi parts get more expensive as time goes on when asked about the dodge stealth/3000gt.

He generally isn't a fan, unless this is a "toy."

Older cars are harder to maintain as a daily driver.
Mitsubishi are a "lower" tier Japanese car, so a bit cheaper made. Toyota/Lexus come out near the top, followed by Hondas.

Most Japanese brands are good bang for the buck though in general that is. Lexus is a luxury brand though, albeit one of the better ones.
