I watched The City on the Edge of Forever and it was a great episode. I liked it a lot even though time travel has been done before to some extent. What I did like the most about it was that Kirk was set in a difficult position that he couldn't solve perfectly like he typically does. I still wonder why this is the highest rated episode though. I think it was great, but there are other episodes I like more. What are your thoughts on this episode scipioafricanus? Also, that concludes the first season of Star Trek, and it's been a blast in general. I had some reservations before attempting to watch this series, but I love it and I always want to come back to it to watch more.

There is something about it, at one time this episode was playing somewhere in the world, everyday in syndication.
You can also see that the triumvirate of Kirk, Spock, and Bones is key to the series overall.

Visiting all of these worlds and solving all of these problems wouldn't be half as fun with somebody else. I'd also like to nominate Scotty even though he isn't as prominent. Scotty is an amazing guy, one that can always be trusted. He's a fantastic engineer and always gets the job done.

I've begun watching season 2 of this show and it caught me a bit of guard that the feel of the show changed so sudden from season 1. It's not that it feels completely different now, but I can definitely tell that it's different. The new versions of theme and intro are alright, but I prefer the older ones. There are some new background music and such in these episodes that haven't been used before, but I like them. The episodes are also good, especially the first episode which is Amok Time. I liked how it expanded on the Vulcanians even though I was a bit skeptical at first. The bait and switch move by Dr. McCoy was great.

The Next Generation did a good job of carrying the torch while doing there own thing. Plus it has Worf. Worf is cool. Once you get passed the rest of TOS and the movie series, do consider checking out TNG.

When starting TNG, try to find a list of essential episodes for at least the first couple seasons because the first two years were pretty sketchy. It gets really solid from year 3 onward.

Mirror, Mirror is the second highest rated episode of the show and it's fantastic, one of my favorites. Kirk, Dr. McCoy, Uhura and Scotty gets transported into a parallel dimension where everyone acts like they belong in the Klingon Empire or something like that. Spock has a beard, and everyone else are totally barbaric. Lots of great moments in this episode, and the Spock fight scene is one of the best fight scenes yet in the series. I love how Spock still has integrity even though he is serving an empire now, but I love even more the fact that he's going to rebel against them once good Kirk leaves. They never explained though where Empire Kirk and crew went though. They didn't go back, that's for sure.

The Doomsday Machine was an extremely solid episode all around. It had great parts for every major characters and still had enough time for a great one off character (Commodore Matt). The machine was interesting in itself and their conflict with it was full of tense and fun moments. One of the best episodes of the show.

Really digging season 2 so far. Journey to Babel is yet another stand out episode. It had great moments for all characters involved, it expanded yet again on Spock and there was some clever ship battles too. It also had my favorite moment of Dr. McCoy when he finally gets the last word of the episode. I laughed out loud to myself those last minutes. Truly great stuff. Would also like to point out my excitement of Mudd's return in I, Mudd. It wasn't the vest episode, but Mudd is one of my favorite villains of the show, and I'm glad to see that he was in another episode.

Season 2 isn't so bad imo, I wouldn't lump it in with season 1 at least. I remember when I started S2 not that long ago, and thought how much of a step up it was from the previous one in almost every aspect. It has a few episodes worth skipping, but so does every season.

I watched The Troubles with Tribbles and this episode is kind of a big deal in the Star Trek community I guess. Usually there are 4-5 episodes per Blu-Ray disc, but this episode had a whole disc for just itself along with a commentary track, the animated show episode featuring Tribbles and a Deep Space Nine episode with Tribbles. I think this episode was a lot of fun, especially the bar fight scene with the Klingons. What are your thoughts on it scipioafricanus?

Probably one of the shows I would use to show someone who has never seen Star Trek and is only open for one or two episodes.
Deep Space Nine did a good throw back to this episode.
