I owned a PS3 now for a couple of months but haven't tried it out until these last two weeks, and I got to say: I really like it. I'm not going to get as far as saying it's better than the 360, but it's holding up better than what I expected. The controller is good, and for Six-Axis games; It works surprisingly well. The games I've been playing have been Heavy Rain and Uncharted, both amazing games. Heavy Rain has gone down as my favorite story driven game of all time. Uncharted on the other hand: even though the combat is sometimes clunky it's still outperforms anything from that era of the early days of the PS3 and it has some very fun platforming.
It's been fun to have a break from the Xbox and try out the competitor. And I have a bright future since there are many great games to play on it. Just wanted to share my early opinions on it since I've been labeled the Xbox-guy around here. The only thing that's been bugging me is the PS OS and all the updates and installs (that is way better on Xbox, but it might just be my preference).

Add me, just like in Xbox, my handle is: stratogustav I used to like the PS3 controller a lot, but since I saw what Bungie did with the DS4 design, it is hard to go back and I only use it if I need it. Although the DS3 is not bad all, I now like the DS4 much more, and the good thing is that it works for most games on the PS3 as well. PS3 has many good games like: - Time Crisis Razing Storm - Deadstorm Pirates - Time Crisis 4 - Sports Champions - Sports Champions 2 - Start The Party! - The Umbrella Chronicles - The Darkside Chronicles - The House Of The Dead III - The House Of The Dead 4 - The House Of Dead Overkill - Deadmund's Quest - Planet Minigolf - Ape Escape - Foosball 2012 - London 2012 - Everybody Dance - Carnival Island - The Fight Lights Out - Gal*Gun And if you like to play solo: - Resistance Trilogy - Killzone Trilogy - God Of War Legacy Collection - Ico / Shadow Of The Colossus - InFamous Collection - Gran Turismo 5 - Gran Turismo 6 - Uncharted Trilogy - The Last Of Us - Heavy Rain / Beyond Two Souls - Heavenly Sword - 3D Dots Game Heroes - Dragon's Crown - Drakengard 3 - Dead Nation - Resogun - Super Stardust HD - Demon's Souls I also heard good things of LittleBigPlanet, Jack & Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank. Not to mention all the other solid multi-platform games like: - Virtua Tennis 4 - Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - Sonic Generations - Tomb Raider - Metal Gear Legacy Collection - Metal Gear Rising Revengeance - Devil May Cry Collection - Devil May Cry 4 - Resident Evil Revival Collection - Resident Evil 5 - Resident Evil 6 - Metal Gear Rising Revengeance - Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (modern) - Zone Of The Enders Collection - Outland - Silent Hill Collection (patched) - Enslaved Odyssey To The West - MotorStorm Apocalypse - Catherine - Lords Of Shadow - Dark Souls - Dark Souls II Scholar Of The First Sin - Lollipop Chainsaw - Vanquish - Ground Zeroes - The Phantom Pain - Transformers Devastation ... and the list goes on. Although I mostly like it for the fighting games but those are also multi-platform. By the way, I just hit 1,000 post. It is crazy how fast time goes by

The only thing that's been bugging me is the PS OS and all the updates and installs (that is way better on Xbox, but it might just be my preference). I also personally found the X360 operating system more elegant & user friendly. While true, the simple reason behind this may be attributable to company history - Microsoft has been developing software for years, and that reflects in their user-machine interface know how. But Sony's background is hardware - so you're less likely to have to worry about tech failure. Plus, PS3 PSN multiplayer is free. Ah, Last of Us... Metal Gear + Resident Evil... It's good but not that good honestly. While Uncharted takes you to exotic locales around the world, TLOU is very American centric - essentially a post-apo US cross country zombie hike. There's also the iNfamous titles, which I've personally never tried. A superhero GTA with electricity or something... Valkyria Chronicles is (one of) the most overrated games I've played. Jump in only if you can tolerate trial & error repetition... Alot of people will like to cite Uncharted 2 as being the bar setting standard for action games of the era. Here I can agree somewhat, if only for the oustandingly emersive setting and world realization. And I can't argue with Heavy Rain. A real interactive drama that makes you feel the fear of failure - because it brings real consequence, and you cannot just 'load save' from a previous point to make it all good again. Don't forget to get Gradius V on PSN and show our friend 'CGA' your score. 'Ola-Nes' eh, I might give you a ring one of these days.

I agree about the software features of the 360, and Xbox in general, they had always been superior in that aspect. In fact, PlayStation is known for having an interior interface.
The hardware may be more reliable, and efficient, hence the original PS4 is even smaller than the Xbox One S, but when it comes to the OS, Xbox has always been ahead.
Ourselves, the PlayStation users, are constantly making fun of how we can't even make folders on the PS4, at least not yet, change handle names, delete unwanted trophies, add photos directly from a USB, etc., etc., while in Xbox they are always years ahead with their OS.
Also even though Bungie fixed on the DS4 the problems with the triggers that DS3 had, and that overall I do like the DS4 a lot more than the Xbox One controller, the Xbox One controller still has better triggers even in comparison to the DS4, the feel is just superior on the triggers at least.
By the way, I'm totally loving how leaon79 nails it when describing games, LOL!

Not going to play multiplats on PS3 like Resident Evil, but the exclusives. PSN being free on the PS3 is soon to be redundant since most multiplayer online games are going to be played on the 8th gen where both XBL and PSN is paid for.

Nowadays I just play all my games on pc and enjoy not having to pay to play online. PS3 will be the last console I ever buy and I have yet to see a single ps4 title that is actually worth money. Add in the fact that you have to pay to play online when you didn't with the ps3 is just more bullshit you got to deal with it. Most ps4 and xbox one games are also on pc and usually look and run a lot better unless its a crappy port of the game, no man's sky pc version anyone?

By the way, I'm totally loving how leaon79 nails it when describing games, LOL! Thanks! But I think I may be just a bit crazy. Just a bit. Not going to play multiplats on PS3 like Resident Evil, but the exclusives. PSN being free on the PS3 is soon to be redundant since most multiplayer online games are going to be played on the 8th gen where both XBL and PSN is paid for. I never mentioned Resident Evil... You don't have a PS4 right so playing paid PSN is moot in your case. There are still quite a few PS3 exclusive multiplayer that should still be available - like The Last of Us, and possibly the Uncharteds too. Come to think of it I never tried them before. I might give them a try now to see if they're still up and call you out sometime if they are.
