A couple of weeks ago stratogustav told me to come back here. Not gonna lie, I came here last week to check these boards and saw how 47% of users here chose the option "Unimpressed", and the possible mindset here actually made me hold off on posting again till today.
So, I'm very interested in getting a Switch, I think that buying systems for exclusive games is still the way to go, but as former console game series shift to being present on Steam and etc. I feel that investing on a Ps4 or Xbone isn't the right move for me. That and it's been a while since I've seen Nintendo do anything good, and judging by Fire Emblem Heroes I say they have more potential now than when they decided to release the WiiU.
Only problem right now is that the launch contained 0 games I could be interested in, so it's not like I'm buying one in the following months. Here I'm hoping that they realize that the reason why people think Switch is a good idea is that they can consolidate their dual libraries into one.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that happens. But it isn't the only reason that I'm excited about the Switch. Also, welcome back, Spider.

So I managed to get my hands on a Pro Controller. A co-worker had two and sold me their unopened second one at cost, less taxes, so not a bad deal.
Overall, I'm quite enjoying it, and sing it had made me notice a few minor issues with the Joy-Cons+Grip setup that I hadn't even realized up until this point. When playing Breath of the Wild with the Joy Cons in the grip, I found that I tended to push the left analog in unintentionally, so would find myself crouch-walking when I didn't mean to do so. I would also unintentionally hit R quite a bit, and bring up the camera (or other special ability) unintentionally.
I had not noticed this with the pro controller, and I attribute this mostly to the wider button setup, larger buttons, and more resistance on the analog-stick buttons.
I find the Switch Pro controller slightly more comfortable than the Wii U Pro. I think the switch to asymmetrical analog sticks (ala the Gamecube or Xbox) was a smart decision. I really liked the Wii U pro controller, but I found its large size, combined with the face buttons in the lower right would grow uncomfortable with time. I think I still have a slight preference for symmetrical analogs at the bottom, like the PS4, but it is very slight.
Buttons are responsive, and the design is quite pretty. There is panel with a glossy black finish around the charging port, which I could have done without. Overall the Switch designs have avoided the glossy finishes of the Wii and Wii U, which show marks very easily, so this minor lapse is a little annoying.
Battery life is excellent, but this is also to be expected given the 40+ hour life of the Wii U Pro controller. Given the extra functions, it does make me wish my PS4 controllers had a better battery life.
ZL and ZR buttons still aren't analog triggers, which still feels like an oversight, but not one that kills it for me, since I don't play many 1st or 3rd person shooters.
I still prefer the Joy Cons mounted on the Switch for portable mode, but the Pro Controller my preferred style for television-based play.
The price is definitely daunting though ($90 Canadian + taxes), and I don't see getting more than one for the foreseeable future. My understanding is that the "HD Rumble" and NFC reader are what push the price up even beyond what the PS4 and Xbox One controllers go for. I'm not sure that either of these were really necessary, since the only uses of HD Rumble I've seen demonstrated so far are in 1-2 Switch and are mostly a novelty, and the right Joy-Con already has an NFC reader.

This is an outstanding deal. I love the idea of a Nintendo "Netflix," because I would love to try out every game in the NES and SNES library. $20 a year is a steal, and I'm willing to bet that they are taking a loss on this just to win back their customers. I know I'll be in whenever I get one.

If that truly is what Nintendo means by their selection of games, awesome. But a huge catalog for $20 doesn't seem feasible to me.

Yeah...Count me very impressed. I had people over today who decided to talk about nonsense I didn't want to hear. Then they decided to watch a movie I didn't want to watch. I decided to go to another room and play Xenoblade 2 on my Switch for about 2 hours. The battery strength was over half when I was done, the sound out of the speaker is great, and the screen is outstanding. I really don't know why some of you would say you are unimpressed with the machine. It helped me avoid stupidity, while I was engrossed in another world. Thank you Nintendo. You helped me keep my sanity this year.
