Any Gamecube games worth buying a backwards-compatible model for? Can are they the same ones with Wi-fi? (I know Wi-Fi is cancelled but I heard the Wii can be modded to play online again).

I love my Wii. I didn't bring it with me, but when I'm at home I play it here and there. It is probably the biggest console library. You can play that thing your entire life. I never play online on my Wii, but it may still run Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube just fine.

Were Gamecube games ever wifi compatible? I really like the console/controller/etc. even if the library is a bit lacking.
I do have a few recommendations that won't break the bank or are worth the investment:
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the blah blah blah for a turn-based RPG with a deep card combat system and imaginative worlds. Alternatively, if you'd rather play a non-turn based RPG, Lost Kingdoms should do you well.
F-Zero Gx just because.
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for one of the most relaxed, enjoyable and open-ended sports games I've ever played.
Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition because you can experience the N64 classics on the 'cube (Admittedly, I have yet to play this one but I did order it over the weekend).
Pikmin for a compelling RTS spinoff that doesn't spoon-feed you next steps.
I-Ninja for a quirky, humorous ninja game with a fun style.
If you get an OG Gamecube, the Game Boy Player is amazing for Game Boy through Game Boy Advance titles you don't mind playing with the control stick.

Why would you want a dozen Wiis? Isn't one Wii enough for you?

Dan E. Kool You're deliberately misinterpreting "dime a dozen" to create some drama. Not only that, you changed your name to Joe E. Kool, just to suck up to the new kid? You're just lame.

centipede There seems to have been a misunderstanding here. Worse than that, it seems to be causing you some distress. For that, I want to apologize. I hope there are no hard feelings.

Balder, glad you're here. Listen, my Wii is on the fritz. Do me a favor and ask centipede if he won't do me a solid and let me have one of his. The guy's got 12 of 'em. I'll pay him tomorrow. What's dozen divided by dime? Anyone know?

Stop being whiny just because you can't afford a Wii. You know what a dime is, right? Haven't they invented coins yet in your country, or do you still barter and trade for your video games?

Typical, every time you get intimidated you play your xenophobe card right away. Say, now! Xenophobia is a serious matter, Balder. That's an allegation that I don't take lightly. I'll have you know that I have many friends around the world, from all countries, races, and beliefs. And I like them all just the way they are. Far away from where I live.
