So it seems like the next generation of consoles will focus heavily on reducing load times. Finally we'll get back to the time where we don't have to wait forever to plays. What concerns me however, is the time it takes to install games.

I don't even know where to begin with the Nintendo conference. Color me impressed. I was excited about the majority of the titles announced, and the Mana series through me off quite a bit. Daemon X Machina was a great demo, and I am looking forward to it. SM Maker looks a heck of a lot of fun for my son. The Contra games and No More Heroes III look like a blast. Link's Awakening will be a great hold over until the Breath of the Wild Sequel they teased. Astral Chain looks like a day 1 purchase. Fire Emblem and Dragon's Quest look like time black holes along with Witcher 3. And of course Panzer Dragoon! Who saw that coming?

I wonder if this new Contra is made in the West. Because that's the difference between getting Legacy Of War ot Neo Contra.
However I like what I see, so even if it was made in the West, I'll still buy it to support the series, that's the only way you keep getting more titles, and that's also how you end up getting really good ones.
I just love the Japanese ones because the Japanese people always add weird twists to the games, and those turns are what make those games stand out.
I'm also happy for Panzer Dragoon. For a second I thought it was a new Dragon Drive.
About Final Fantasy, I'm ready to try both VII, and XV, I feel the new battle system is more forgiving for newcomers like me that are not used to heavy turn base combat modes.
I'm looking forward for Death Stranding from Sony, and Ghostwire Tokyo from Bethesda.
From Nintendo definitely Super Mario Maker 2, and Luigi's Mansion 3.
Then No More Heroes 3, and Astral Chain look like something I will like as well.
Overall this E3 was really bad because all the big games like Super Mario Maker 2 and Final Fantasy VII were already announced before.
The only news to me were the Smash DLC characters like Banjo, the new Contra, and the gameplay of Battletoads.
To be honest I have so many games in my backlog that not having many exciting things is a good thing.

What concerns me however, is the time it takes to install games. And thus HD space needed. It's kind of embarrassing how small the HDDs were thus generation. They shipped with 500GB for the first versions. It is ridiculous, especially when considering a big game such as Halo 5 takes up more than 100GB of space. More than a fifth of the drive.

Some other neat stuff from today. Turbografx-16 Mini announced. Looks like some of the announced games are from the TurboDuo, which is neat. I haven't grabbed any of the mini consoles yet, but the Turbografx does have a nice library, so good to see this Mana Collection announced for the Switch, and out already. I'm generally happy about this one, as it is great to see an official localized version of Seiken Densetsu 3 (now Trials of Mana) even 24 years later. I never did get to the fan translation, so I'll pick this up at some point. That said...$40 US/$50 CAN is a lot for a 3 game collection from the GB/SNES era. I liked the $30 price point for the Castlevania Collection recently. So, I'll probably wait for this one to go on sale. I've played the remakes of both Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana recently, so I'll likely only be playing Trials of Mana when I pick it up. Speaking of which, likely the reason it was finally translated...Trials of Mana has remake coming next year. It looks like it is a much more significant remake than the Adventure of Mana/Secret of Mana ones we had in the last few years. I did enjoy both, but aside from some extra dialogue at the inns in Secret of Mana, they were just the originals, in polygons with some remixed tunes. This looks like more of a ground-up remake, and that suites me just fine. It means I can grab both this and the collection and not feel like I'm playing the same game twice. The Link's Awakening remake still looks pretty, and looks like it is going to have a dungeon builder mini-game. We've got a teaser of Breath of the Wild's Sequel. Looks like a direct sequel as well, not just a mini-game. Teaser features Link and Zelda exploring a dungeon. As little as this is, it does have me excited. At the end of Breath of the Wild, I was hoping we'd get to see the pair explore this new world together, and hopefully the dungeon is a hint that Nintendo took the feedback that people felt Breath of the Wild could have used some more tradtional dungeons. I'd love to see Zelda as a player character, or at least some mechanism for them to team up in the dungeons. Looks like Cadence of Hyrule is coming this week apparently. The original Crypt of the Necrodancer is like 75% off on the Switch right now, so I picked it up to see what it was like. Neat to see the new upcoming Smash Ultimate characters. Dragon Quest gets represented by the "Hero", which seems to have a variety of different skins for the heroes of (If I have this right) DQ 1, 3, 8, and 11. Also, Banjo Kazooie, which I know a lot of folks were predicting. Oddly, I don't even really play Smash much these days, as I like it more when friends are around rather than a solo or party game, but the character reveals are always fun. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=smash+banjo+kazooie'

As a contrast to that, when you look at the price differences for models with larger hard drives, I think the price gets inflated. I'd usually rather swap in a larger drive myself, or use an external one. Given that the next gen Xbox and PS entries are going to use solid state drives for internal storage, the price inflation may get worse.

I don't think they had a conference. I don't think they have the cash for that. They probably announced it from a booth.

I'm so happy for the new Contra. I was looking at the gameplay videos, and it looks even better than what they presented at the conference. It was one of things I mentioned I wanted, and I didn't believe it was possible, but here it is. What's even better is that it is the real deal Nobuya Nakazato stuff. In other words it is Neo Contra, not Legacy Of War. I was looking at the gameplay, and it is even better than the trailer. It has all the wackiness I want from a Contra game. It already looks better than Alienation, Dead Nation, and Nex Machina, and I love those games. I hope it gets well rated so people don't get afraid to experience the awesomeness that it is Contra. If people buy the new Contra, we will get more Contra games, and that's a good world to live in, 2D, 3D, sides scrolling, top view, money talks, and sales talk. The game looks really fun, so there is no excuse not to get it. I don't think they had a conference. I don't think they have the cash for that. They probably announced it from a booth. Oh I see you were talking about the 1Up mini cabs, now it makes sense, I was thinking it was something else, like a new TMMT arcade game, which I guess it would be number V..

Do you have any of those mini cabinets?

You're an arcade guy. Do you have any of those mini cabinets? No, they are too small for my liking. I like big 36 inches screens + cabinets, specially the pedestal kind which are the ones I grew up with, as opposed of upright.

I'm with you on that one, but I see the niche market for guys who don't have enough room. Did you hear they are going to make some table top arcades? I remember playing Pac-Man quite a bit on one of those at a bowling alley when I was a kid. I'm interested in one of those.

Did you hear they are going to make some table top arcades?; I remember playing Pac-Man quite a bit on one of those at a bowling alley when I was a kid. I'm interested in one of those. They're actually quite big enough with the stand, and the price just drop from $300 to $175 with the raiser included. I honestly think they are a great deal, specially for those that grew up with the smaller upright cabinets. My arcade cabinet is actually considered upright, but it doesn't feel that way simply because it is so big, but I like that. On limited spaces it would be very hard to put in something like that. The table top ones look nice if you have a bar in your house, or maybe if you work in an office. Having an arcade close by is always a good thing.
