Balder I can't wait to see you watch the first 4 movies. You can compare them to some original episodes about how "Gene Roddenberry" they are. Do you have any prior knowledge of any? Most people know a few of them from "it is on this, oh this is the ____ one, etc." I know very little specific things about them. I do know that the first movie is sort of slow-paced and boring, that alternating movies are good, that Khan returns in Star Trek II (and that it's the best movie) and that the original crew appears in one of The Next Generation films. Also, Spock dies in one of the films, however, I don't know which one. The first one is very "Gene." You'll see.

Still, I'm excited to watch a Star Trek story executed with a large budget.

You're trying to egg me on but it's not effective. I haven't even watched a single minute of Lost, nor do I intend to.
Egg you man, I would never egg you my friend. I'm not that kind of guy. But you saying you haven't watched Lost is heartbreaking, heartbreaking indeed.

Just like with the Terminator game... watch any more?

Star Trek is fantastic, and I really am looking forward to the movies, even more so than most other films. The thing is though, I kind of want to watch the animated show too even though it's supposedly not as good, but it's still canon. So I think I want to try the animated show and then watch all of the movies.
As for Terminator, I've looked into it and added it to my Xbox wishlist. It's not on sale at the moment and I think 40 bucks is too steep, but I'll definitely get it when it goes on sale.

I started watching TOS during last year's Easter and now I'm continuing this year's Easter by watching the animated series, which is the sequel to the original series. The show has a lot of the same writers and some of the episodes were cancelled episodes from the original series, so the writing is familiar and great. All of the returning characters are performed by the same actors, which is great, however, there is a severe lack of voice actors for one of characters as Dohan voices modt of them. The animation is dreadful though and is the crutch of the series. To say that it's cheap is a major downplay. I still think it's worth watching as there are great stories worth watching here like Yesteryear and More Tribbles, More Troubles of the ones I've seen so far.

I finished off TAS and it was quite enjoyable after getting into it. It certainly is a good continuation of the TOS once you get past the sketchy animation. Some great episodes I've watched over this week also include Mudd's Passion which has Harry Mudd return, who in my opinion was one of the best recurring side characters from TOS, The Time Trap which is another great Klingon ship battle encounter, totally classic stuff, More Tribbles More Troubles which is the best episode apart from Yesteryear as it brings back the Tribbles and The Slaver Weapon was also pretty fun. Now I'm ready to watch the Star Trek Original movies.

Spirit Bomb how do you feel about TOS? It's a series that focuses on preserving life and nature, and it's a science fiction franchise.

I never bothered investing any time in Star Trek either as a teen or as an adult because there have always been a bajillion other TV/film series that interest me more, and plus I can see how ignorantly the creators of Star Trek treat the environmental impact of the technology featured in the series, so therefore I'm never going to watch it. I'm fed-up with science fiction that glamorizes technology, space travel, and exoplanetary colonization. The people who write these series are all materialistic, ignorant, first world idiots who always gloss over the negative effects technology has on plants, animals, and even human beings.

Did you miss the part where I said I have never watched much Star Trek? Obviously I don't know anything about it if I haven't watched it, shithead. Besides, it's just science fiction that was written in the 60s. Only a regressive pig like you would defend a science fiction series from the 60s as being "environmentally progressive". Space dramas like Star Trek never have any credibility in regards to environmental science. They have nothing to do with reality and only exist to entertain the masses.

It's progressive but not in the way you're thinking of. See, it was revolutionary back in the 60's. It may have had an American captain, but it also had a sexy negro female communications officer, a Japanese, a Russian (during the cold war! Which suggested that Americans and Russians could be friends!), a Scotsman engineer and a Vulcan. TNG had a French captain, a Tactics/Security officer who was fa Klingon, plus an android science officer and a black engineer with some cool eyewear, but that's it. Oh, DS9 has Captain Sisko, who's black but his fans are saying he's the best Star Trek Captain, regardless. Captain Janeway from Voyager was a woman, but that series was as strong as the others.

Damn right. I cringe at shows and movies that boast racial representation in an age where it's commonplace. It's like Black people thinking they're protesting in 2021 by sitting at the front of the bus, when the reao protesting happened 50-60 years ago. Star Trek is all about bringing out the best in people amnd putting differences to the side, and it certainly does so with class and entertainment.
