I saw Hard Target today, pretty awesome movie, lots of action, and excess of bullets for every single kill.

Belfast, on Christmas day. The grandpa (Ciarin Hinds, also in Game of Thrones & HBO's Rome) was hilarious, though the mom was distractingly hot & leggy in a shaggedelic/film noire kind of way. 7.5 Liam Neesons out of 10.
Nobody wanted to watch any Van Damme movies. Pfft.

Today I rewatched Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) Advance. It's pretty awesome, especially since in this one the story becomes completely different from the original series and there's a fight near the ending that is just something else - also, the dramatic moment with the dummy system is perfect, with a very fitting song and a convincing delivery by Shinji's voice actress (watched it in the original japanese dub).
Tomorrow, I'll rewatch 3 and then finally watch 4 for the first time.

I watched Lucca with my daughter yesterday. I liked it a lot. I thought it was a sweet story, and I would recommend it to anyone; it doesn't have to be seen by kids. The animation is fun, and the story was interesting. What can I say? It was a good Pixar movie.
Today, I watched Spiderman: No Way Home. I really enjoyed it for what it was: an action movie. I'm not a big fan of this Spiderman rendition, since it seems to be about MCU style over substance, but this one felt different. The writing kind of sucked, since it was all about, "just because..." as a reason for things happening. The multiverse scenes were really well directed though, and I felt like the older characters really got a chance to shine. I'd recommend it, and I understand why it took in over a billion dollars.

My son got Shazam! on DVD for Christmas, so I watched it with him. The movie surprised me. I generally don't like most superhero movies anymore (besides Batman and Spiderman), but it was fun. I actually found myself interested in the story, and it was funny. I'd recommend it.

I just watched Red Sonja. Did the censors even watch this before they gave it a rating of PG?!

I haven't seen it, but I heard about it. I will look it up to see if they are streaming it somewhere.
The last movie I saw was King Richard with Will Smith, and it was a good movie, I end up liking it.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but a few nights ago, I caught the Family Guy version of Return of the Jedi on TV. I only chuckled a few times . If this is Family Guy normally is, then how the frick did it get so popular?

The reason why Family Guy took off is because it took the next step in potty and degenerate humour the same way South Park did before it and the way Bevous and Butt head did before that. So people are always going to find the next big thing that crosses the line entertaining. But once they become desensitised to it we really see the show for what it is. You can see this in the first couple of seasons of South Park. It relies purely on shock value and potty humour which does not hold up today at all. Besides some classic episodes and some funny jokes here and there, Family Guy sucks ass and is the worst out of the adult comedy animated shows.

At least the mid to late seasons of South Park had social satire, and so did Beavis & Butthead to a lesser degree.
Also, Beavis & Butthead satirized their own audience. Hell, they still make me laugh.

Sorry I should of clarified on that. The later seasons of South Park are amazing and Beavis and Butthead was always amazing and has a great early 90's summer highschool atmosphere to it. I just used those as an example because Family Guy is withing the same lineage of those shows.

If this is Family Guy normally is, then how the frick did it get so popular? The reason Family Guy gets such good ratings is because it's actually watchable to people outside of the US since it isn't made by far-right, climate change denying all-american tea-party libertarian pieces of shit like Matt Stone and Tray Parker ^ These morons made a living out of pandering to americans' ignorance by making a mockery out of global issues like climate change as well as hybrid cars, EVs, tropical rainforests, and AA groups. These fuck-headed clowns would never be able to win over a global audience because nobody outside of America AND in their right mind would find that shit funny! It goes back to what Bill Gates said in a PSA a while back: "most countries listen to their scientists" Who the hell would want to follow anybody who're so arrogant that they actually think they're above science??? Not me, that's for damn sure. And apparently most of the world, too. I remember Cerventes mentioning that South Park never had mainstream popularity in South America. Go figure. And while I'm at it, I'm gonna call out David X. Cohan, too. He's another all-american clown who made the mistake of mocking cool, progressive people like Bill Clinton and Al Gore, as well as climate change and the hippy movement: The way he treated Al Gore alone is enough for him to earn a permanent blacklist in my book. I dunno, maybe I'm looking into this too hard, but I NEVER recalled EVER seeing regressive mockery like this stuff in other cooler adult sitcoms at the time like The Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill, to name a few. Those three shows all felt so politically neutral compared to these other two. Maybe that's why Futurama tanked so hard in the ratings when it was new. I watched it a lot as a kid but apparently the rest of the world didn't pay much attention to it. Looking back, I'm not really surprised. I guess my point here is that it doesn't matter if Family Guy's sense of humor is dumb-beyond-belief because at least it doesn't intentionally cater to the wrong people like Futurama and ESPECIALLY South Park do.

My kids wanted to pick up the Ice Age sequels at Goodwill recently. I don't know if I watched the 2nd or 3rd one, but man was it boring. What a shame...
