Dan E. KoolBut that's super on-topic! And kinda funny. But I understand why they'd do that. All true. A lot of our problems come from people not really admitting that Brazil is a very racist country, so most policies that should work towards bringing equity are seen as people being victimists or something. Also, not a lot of people recognize their african descent (some people will even say they are "very, very white" - actually an expression I've heard countless times, even recently - when they clearly aren't, almost as if skin colour were a shameful thing). Wow, that's awful. So has segregation ever occurred in Brazil? It still occurs here in america to an extent, but our country has mostly gotten over other issues related to racism. And what about acts of violence (like lynching and stuff)? I wonder why So many people in your country refuse to admit being of black heritage? It doesn't happen in America. To be honest I don't think it's as shitty as it is in America. The situation is just veeeery different... For starters, actual blacks and whites almost don't actually exist here - I bet there are more japanese and koreans than those groups - so campaigns promoting racial tolerance have a tendency to backfire; people can only find themselves having "light" identifications with any specific race naturally, and only then they may build up any strong one (if they are sick enough).

spidershinobi You don't say? That's interesting, because I've seen pictures of many different brazillian models and actors/actresses, and a lot of them looked pure-bred caucasian (as in, extremely white skin). I myself am of mixed race descent IRL and have noticeably dark (tan) skin, even though I'm less than an eighth black. I think that officially qualifies as white, doesn't it? If so, then what about all those brazillian ladies/men who are much whiter than me but can't be considered purebred white? I mean, to an extent isn't everyone at least a little mixed genetically? I'd love to get your definition on what you consider "black" or "white".
