I think it's the decline in Patreon backers. He also stated that he lost 10 backers last time he uploaded a review, which he was really bummed out about. It's what I think. CGR is losing some backers every month, around 15 this time. For some months, it has been below what Mark initially considered as enough to keep the show as a full job when he started the campaign, so that must be frustrating. I talked about the YT comments situation in response to Spirit Bomb and Balder - though it's obviously another thing that may be bothering Mark, as he sometimes mentions how terrible the Youtube community has been lately (he also mentioned it in the podcast with Pat Contri). This reminds me, I need to catch up on the podcast again. |

There's a thing too, I bet most of you know, but people with minds focused on creative arts are often sloppy when it comes to managing a business. There are a bunch of things that Mark could have tried to keep himself relevant but he didn't really go for those and instead tried a more expansive approach, and it was too expensive and hard to maintain, obviously.
What I mean is that he made bad choices previously, and now he's being haunted by internet garbage people, and unfortunately they may be a significant portion of the audience... I'm afraid that once you hit 35 and over it's hard to keep you interested in game reviews, you already know how you enjoy games by that point in life, and I assume that's the audience he aims for.

There are a bunch of things that Mark could have tried to keep himself relevant but he didn't really go for those and instead tried a more expansive approach, and it was too expensive and hard to maintain, obviously. I agree. I thought Mark III was going to be different. Then again, people complain when things change, too. |

My only complaint would be that some of the more recent reviews are more like "Let's Plays." I don't see how people could leave over the Jackal review, however. CGR has a good formula, intro with Mark, gameplay, random hilarity and comedy, viral dog, end scene.
