Rumor has it that they are going to do another direct this month. I'm looking forward to Metroid Dread. I'm hoping the Xenoblade rumors are true. I'm still holding out for a port of X or a sequel to X, since X left us on a cliffhanger.

The next direct is happening tomorrow. It is fun to watch the YouTube pundits pontificate about their predictions. So many of them are claiming they know that the N64 and the Game Boy games will be announced for the online service. Others are claiming the Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster will be stealth dropped. Since no one is talking about BOTW 2 news for the first time in a few years, I'm sure it will be there. A few others are claiming that there is some magic behind the new dock, since the last update allows you to update the thing. I don't know, but I am happy to hear that another direct is on our doorstep.!

It's awesome they are bringing back to life Drew from Scalebound in Bayonetta 3. He definitely deserves another shot at life.
ActRaiser Remake made me happy inside. I had never been so happy for another Square Enix release before. They are bringing a Chocobo racer too ala PS1, but ActRaiser made my day.
They are really going all out with those Genesis and N64 wireless controllers, and what a nice selection of games, it's so surprising to see they are including M.U.S.H.A. for the Genesis and Sin & Punishment for the N64. They were well advised.
The 3D Kirby looks fun too, but I'm mostly happy for the Castlevania Collection, it seems they are starting to get us all the games we wanted after all. Finally Soma Cruz will hit modern consoles.
I have nothing against the Super Mario movie cast. It sounds like something I'm definitely going to enjoy. Hopefully they'll make a 3D version for IMAX.

A lot of people seem to be thrilled with the last Direct. Not so much with me, but I understand that everything is not for me. So, I'm happy for the others. I happen to have many of the N64 and Genesis games. The movie will be great for kids, and Bayonetta 3 could be something great. (I was happy to see the dog from Astral Chain.) The 3D Kirby actually looks rather fun. I'm glad they took a step away from the 2D format. That market is oversaturated at the moment, and this looks like a fun alternative.
I'm sad to hear about the Act Raiser remake. Most people seem to either hate it or grudgingly accept it. Honestly though, what's with the unnecessary tower defense portions of the remake? No one wants that. I watched a bit of the gameplay on the My Life in Gaming stream last night, and I was thoroughly disappointed. Then I watched the Game Sack episode. Ugh...

This is the thing, Game Sack and Digital Foundry are the only two channels I have seen reviews from which is bad luck already as those are the two channels I'm subscribed to that I always disagree with things they say.
Game Sack in particular are incredibly ignorant when it comes to Lament Of Innocence, I had bashed them like crazy throughout the years about how bad their opinion on things are, they usually say things just because it feels right to say them, but there is no real criticism, which is something Mark had that many people like them simply doesn't.
That said, listening to these reviews it sounds exactly like the reviews regular people would make of the original game back in the day. It was actually nostalgic to hear them talking because that's how people would talk about the original game, with the same kind of criticism.
People would say that the first boss was too hard, that the God mode felt too long, and that they just couldn't wait to get to the platforming parts the first time they played it, that the transitions didn't make sense, but that after you play the game for a while it grows on you, and that the God mode becomes their favorite part. That was exactly what people used to talk of the original, kids would say this, 8 years old that got the Super Nintendo years after it came out. So hearing adults saying this feels strangely nostalgic and surprising as well.
The only criticism that was different than the original game is that the original was always criticized for not having any explanation of how to play the God mode. This time the criticism is the exact opposite in the sense that they say there is too much tutorials in the God mode first level. So I thought that was funny too.
Digital Foundry people always say stupid things though, and this is not the exception. They said that the guitar is out of tune, when in reality is just half step down as it should for this type of neoclassical music, it has been that way since Malmsteen. The addition of the electric guitar is just fantastic in my opinion, even just hearing it from YouTube I already want to learn all of them.
Then the other thing I never understood from people in general, not just people that make reviews, but all people, is that many don't like prerendered graphics. This is one of the weirdest things many people agree upon that I strongly disagree at all levels.
The first time I saw Donkey Kong Country I always thought it looked spectacular, all the original Mortal Kombat games still look amazing to me till this day, games like Killer Instinct, Dragon Blaze, or the later discovered Shinobi Legions, they all look spectacular to me, and I always loved that look, but many people don't, so it gets on my nerves when they just say they don't like prerendered because I believe many times they just say it because it is the popular thing to say, which upsets me because the one type of games I always wanted more of were prerendered games, and because of these bad opinions they never took of, which would have been great, specially now that displays have very high pixel counts, but that's just my personal opinion.
I know these guys have probably played the original, but they did it now recently, with a better perspective of the original game due to all the people praising it throughout the years, but if these guys played it back in the day they would have been saying the exact same things because you can just tell, and there were many people that said those things, and it was only those that actually played the original game all the way through that really felt in love of it, and realized how special it really is.
Now that's just my opinion from seeing the reviews. I haven't played the new game myself, so I could have a different opinion after I play it, but on video it looks exactly what I would want in a remake, which feels strange for some reason as if these people could read minds of the actual fans like me.
About the tower defense system, something curious came out of this, which is that every time people tried to explain to me what tower defense was, my mind always went to the original ActRaiser, I'm talking about years ago when tower defense games started to be a thing. All those explanations always reminded me of ActRaiser, every single time, even though the original game wasn't really that, so it is kind of odd that the remake actually has real tower defense in it. That's another mind blowing thing of dimensions playing mind games with me that has occurred, that speaks volumes of the ability of Square Enix people to read minds.

For sure man. My hands are full right now, and that's a good thing, ActRaiser Renaissance is part of that, but also all three Ninja Gaiden remasters, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, and the Castlevania Advance Collection with Dracula X, Circle Of The Moon, Harmony Of Despair, and Aria Of Sorrow. I'm also in doing Resident Evil 2 Remake, since I finished Resident Evil 3 Remake already, and I'm still not done with Detroit Become Human, and God Of War. I also play Shadow Of The Colossus Remake in small bursts from time to time, and I haven't finished Mortal Kombat 11' Kript yet, it needs a lot of grinding to unlock everything, not to mention all the VR stuff I'm behind, and I want to do Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and NieR Automata too.
This is good though, my love for gaming is alive right now, after having a long time where I have been more into movies than gaming.

I don't really understand Gamesack Joe's dislike for the graphics in the ActRaiser game. Looks ok to me.

It's trapped on my PS3 that I use as an arcade machine, but honestly it doesn't take long for me to take it out and play it there too. I have the disc with all the games, and I have been meaning to beat Metal Gear Rising the most, so I want to go through the whole story because I love everything Cold War stuff so much. I'm definitely behind, but I can make it happen if I become consistent.

I wasn't really posting when the last Direct happening and forgot this thread was here. It was alright for me, neither bad or amazing. I was glad to get a date for Triangle Strategy(still a stupid ass generic name, why did they keep that) and 3D Kirby looks good. I'll probably get that Chocobo Racing game as well unless it sucks, I liked the PS1 game. I'm glad for others that they are finally getting Bayo 3, the series never really caught my interest though. It does look good though and the kaiju stuff in 3 boosts my interest a little.

About the games named Project by Square Enix. My take on those names is that even though they are not related to each other like most Final Fantasy games aren't related to each other, they still belong to the same franchise, it just happens that the name of the franchise is the word "Project", or at least it is slowly becoming its own thing.

They didn't keep the 'Project' in the title for Octopath Traveler or Triangle Strategy. They did keep the Octopath Traveler name but that's a decent title so I was hoping for the same with Triangle Strategy. Hopefully they market the game well or I see it getting buried, sounds like a low budget generic indie title.

If they didn't keep the title, then it's like a more obscure way to call them all. I actually forgot they didn't keep the name.

Ok, that was one hell of a Nintendo Direct, and they didn't even have news about BotW 2 (...much to the chagrin of my son. He was pissed.) Of course, I'm excited about Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I always thought 2 was made for the Wii U, and now I'm 99.9% sure of it, since this sequel looks so much better. I loved the game, but I always thought it could have looked better. Torna originally gave me that line of thinking, and this trailer pretty much proves it.
There are hints about the other two stories in here, and 3 voices that are very familiar. I am fanboying out over here. I wish I didn't have to wait until September to play it.
There were so many games presented that look great, that I don't know where to begin. Chrono Cross made me happy, because I thought the series was dead due to the lead directors going separate ways. Mario Strikers and Nintendo Switch Sports look like great casual games. Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks like a great 3D platformer in the vein of Mario Odyssey. Speaking of platformers, Klonoa is a game I never played, but now I want to do so. It looks great! Triangle Strategy looks good, but damn, Live A Live looks amazing! I really want to more about that game. The Mario Kart Booster Pass makes the Switch Online + look like a value now. I might actually get it just because of today's announcement. Advance Wars looks like it could eat up my time as well. My nephews are really into Fire Emblem, so I know the Three Hopes will excite them.
Overall, I think this Direct looked great. I've got to hand it to Nintendo; They know how to announce games. I don't want to throw shade at the other companies, but I hate announcements with hours of developer interviews afterwards. I know Nintendo has those interviews as well, but not usually in a Direct. They built up the hype, and then they showed the games. I hope they keep this style of reveals up.
So, what peaked your interest?
