These come out pretty regularly, so why not put them all in one thread?
Here's the latest:
Lots of great titles to look forward to here! The new Mario Tennis looks like a lot of fun and Treasure Tracker seems a great match for the Switch handheld mode, too. And then of course that final reveal... 😉

I loved the demo for Octopath Traveler so that being confirmed for this summer was the highlight for me. And of course Smash. I will definitely get Captain Toad as well.

There was supposed to be one this week but it got delayed due to an earthquake. Guessing it won't be delayed too long as part of it probably deals with the online service which is going paid this month.

I hope it doesn't get too bad.

Well, the latest Direct was interesting. I'm not as upset about the online as others are. For the price, you get enough. I did want to see more about Super Nintendo games, though. The controllers go well with the NES library though. That's cool, I guess. The Final Fantasy games available interest me, but I wonder why 8 was absent. I'm a fan of Squall's adventure, but not everyone agrees with me. Super Mario Party ACTUALLY looks fun again. I may pick that up for the family. I am really into the idea of Daemon X Machina, but I'm a bit annoyed to see that a launch date hasn't been set. Of course, I can't wait until Torna comes out, and I'll be downloading that tomorrow.

So taking things in order that interested me: Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch): I'm not the biggest fan of the Luigi's Mansion series, but they are fun. With the remake of the original coming on the 3DS soon, makes sense to launch one for the Switch as well. Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn: I enjoyed the original, so nice to see it in portable form, but I probably won't be rebuying. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe 'U' was probably the best of the NSMB line, so nice to see it get a port, though I kind of hope this is the swan-song of this sub-series. It would have been nice if it were a more complete collection. I believe this includes both NSMBU and NSLU, with some extras, but it would have been nice to include the Wii edition as well, or even NSMB 1 and 2. Hopefully Mario Maker is on the way. Katamari Damacy Rerolled I have not played a Katamari Damacy game in a long time, and I hadn't realized how much I miss them. Might have to pick this up. NES Style wireless controllers for the Switch: Very nifty looking, and nice that they can dock like a joy-con for charging, but I will probably not pick up a set. ALL THE FINAL FANTASY: I probably will not by any of these myself, as I have recently played through VII on the PS4, and currently playing XII Zodiac Age on PS4, and played the X and X-2 remaster on the PS3/Vita a few years ago. That said, all of these titles are great to have portable (hence my playign X and X-2 on both the Vita and PS3), and if I hadn't played many recently, I'd definitely consider picking them up. dschult3 Regarding FFVIII being absent, I'm guessing these are all based on the PS4 versions (with the lovely speed toggle to help with grinding) and it doesn't have VIII yet either. Maybe one of these days...

Final Fantasy VIII is an Electronic Arts (EA) game. Maybe that has something to do with it.
I feel the list of titles in general was overwhelming. What happens is that as a consumer, there are certain type of purchases we are inclined to make. The no brainer 9s and 10s, but also a bunch of 7s and 8s that are interesting or match our gaming habits, something like Daemon X Machina, that you must have, but it is not something you are necessarily looking forward to.
Nintendo throws you one 9 or one 10, but then Nintendo goes on a rampage throwing you a bunch of 7s and 8s that meet all the requirements for you to make impulsive buys. It almost feels like they know the inside and out of drug dealing cartels.
On top of that they hammer on games that were stellar in the past, and they sell them to you again, just because they know you are likely to support those again to have the same experiences.
- Final Fight - The King Of Dragons - Captain Commando - Knights Of The Round - Warriors Of Fate - Armored Warriors - Battle Circuit
It is literally impossible for me not to buy those, you are basically against the wall and just can't say no to something like that.
Although I wish they had added Magic Sword, the other Final Fight games, Cadillacs And Dinosaurs, The Punisher, Tower Of Doom, Shadow Over Mystara, and Alien Vs. Predator to that list.
If that was not enough they make new games with that in mind, so they can do it to you again in the future.
Just look at that Yoshi Crafty World game, that's a game that oozes the comfort gaming of the past without being nostalgic, while bringing you something new, but that in the future is guaranteed to become nostalgic and that you seeing it again will likely make you want to play it in whatever platform they have just like they are doing with New Super Mario Bros. U, and New Super Luigi U.
They are doing it with the PC people. The NS has Doom, and Wolfensten, but now it also has Diablo with Ganandorf, and the latest Sid Meier's Civilization.
Think of the NES controllers, they cost just as much as a NES Classic, and will buy them anyway, or the online store with all those goodies.
From the beginning they opened with a brand new Luigi's Mansion because they know you have Dark Moon, that you will likely buy the remake, and as a consequence you basically won't be able to pass on a new installment, then they closed with more content to add to the the hype of their upcoming fighting game.
If you could rate Nintendo's business model in words instead of numbers, my rating will definitely be "a full seal of evil."

Final Fantasy VIII is an Electronic Arts (EA) game. Maybe that has something to do with it. Really? I didn't know that. How did that happen?

This one won't be a must buy for me.Think of the NES controllers, they cost just as much as a NES Classic, and will buy them anyway, or the online store with all those goodies. I did NOT even think about this. Great observation. I don't think I'll buy these. If they come out with SNES controllers, I will probably buy those. If you could rate Nintendo's business model in words instead of numbers, my rating will definitely be "a full seal of evil." I love this. It may be evil, but I'm in and loving it.

I don't know about the EA thing. All I know is that Square Enix publish Call Of Duty in Japan, not Activision.

I am really digging the Torna DLC for Xenoblade 2. This DLC is rather large, and it is really polished. I love the tweaks to the combat system.

I'm rather concerned about this online path that Nintendo is going down. They have been traditionally known for excellence in quality single player game design.
To have them hop on to the subscription bandwagon now... There's just that looming fear of a DLC/microtransaction slippery slope...
Depending on what happens, I may need to re-evaluate my plans for the inevitable Switch version 2.
