Transportation in North America is such a scam

Ahh, what an EXCELLENT question! Sorry it took me so long to reply to this, Centipede. It's easy to overlook things when you have no internets.

To answer your question, no, my SUV wasn't diesel. Most american SUVs are petroleum powered. The only civilian vehicles in america that regularly get diesel as an option are pick-up trucks, or "utes" as you call them. Why, you may ask? This brings me back to my "transportation in America is such a scam" point I was making with this thread. Petroleum vehicles are less efficient than diesel and can never truly run on 100% biofuel like diesel engines can. The oil corporations LOVE this, since it means that americans are forced to buy/consume MUCH more gas on average than other countries are, especially since public transport is non-existent in most of America. This is EXACTLY what the evil oil tycoons who dominate this planet wanted all along. Remember, John D Rockefeller was the wealthiest human being who ever lived, and he kick-started the oil industry right here in america. America is the oil tycoon capital of the world.

The only reason this piece of shit was made was to devour as much gas as possible. It's permanently locked in 4-wheel drive by default, and there was no diesel option, hence the 11 MPG it got. The governator himself Arnold even helped sucker people in by promoting it (just watch Who Killed the Electric Car? if you don't believe me!).

Now, there are some SUVs here that do have diesel as an option, but diesel SUVs in general here have never been very common, and I don't want anything to do with them anyways. Vehicles of that size never get good milage, especially with useless shit like AWD and 4WD slapped on (useless to me, anyways).

Besides, I got rid of that stupid piece-of-shit SUV months ago, so it's not my problem anymore.

One more thing I want to talk about: you mentioned biodiesel like it was some sort of sustainable energy source? Well, after reading this, I have my doubts. Take a look:

It seems like vegetable-based fuel sources like Ethanol aren't the answer for the long term and in fact might even be worse in the short term compared to premium gas and/or diesel fuel. I kind of expected this, frankly. I figured it would be impossible to harvest enough corn annually to feed the ravenous automotive industry. I'm not sure if biodiesel is easier to produce than ethanol is, but even if it is I doubt it would be much better for the planet than regular old gas would be. I think we should be putting the land to better use than monetizing it for the automotive industry, don't you agree?

I'm still waiting for the opportunity to bid on a Mitsubishi i-miev, a Fiat 500 electric, a Smart EQ Fortwo, or a Chevy Spark electric on the used car market. Those are the only american EVs that are good enough for this planet. Until then, I'll just ride my bike or my moped.

Holy shit, an early 90s diesel engine car that got 103 MPG??? That's even better milage than my moped gets! That's better fuel efficiency than most american EVs! 

Heh, no wonder America hates diesel so much; our oil tycoons would've gone bankrupt if we had allowed these here.

This news report is absolute gold because it goes to show how behind america is on common government funded services like bus lines and railways. There's absolutely no reason why any little village in the rural midwest or the rural southwest or the rural deep south or the rural northwest shouldn't have at least one little government operated shuttle bus making a trip to and from the nearest town at least once a day. I say we tax the wealthy and use their money to fund shuttle bus programs for all the rural american villages.

During democratic eras like this, I thankfully don't have to worry about any of the major american news articles or media outlets being censored or corrupted by the conservatives or Big Oil. So, unless I'm watching Fox News, I'm in the clear.
