I'm nostalgic about the GameBoy because even when the GameBoy Color was out I still had the classic black and white one.
So anything for the original GameBoy is an immediate win even if I haven't played it, and I would go as far as to say that the black and white is what wins me over.
There is something special and surreal about having a game in black and white after color was invented for half of a century, specially after color games were the norm pretty much from the start.
Add to that the handheld factor which is supposed to be a more advanced gimmick, yet it is still black and white, gives it an inconsistency and incongruence that actually makes the games cool, unique, important, and irreplaceable.
I would say they become instant classics even if they are a extremely downgraded port like the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games.
All those games on the original GameBoy even if they came out after the N64 was already out, feel more classic than the Atari and NES games to me, like the surreal missing era from a different time that somehow overlapped dimensions to be the modern thing in future setting and getting the appreciation after the fact, even if that past was not even there.

Never played either version but the movie it was based off was pretty lousy. How can they do James T. Kirk, the greatest hero the galaxy has ever known, dirty like that?

What ?...
I thought that was a great way for him to go out - As a Starfleet Captain saving a world, and giving up paradise to do so. That showed true character, and was one of his finest moments - second only to ST3 where he gave up his career, and lost his son & ship to save his friend...
"If I hadn't tried, the cost would've been my soul..." - A truly under-acknowledged line from a great man
